Looks like good news is blowing in the wind comrades. I have just received an email from Socialist Action with news that the long time Maoist Communist Party of Nepal has, in the face of current imperialism, recognized that Trotskyism is 'more relevant' today than Stalinism. Check this out:

Wow. That was unexpected. But I have to say that I have little overview on what is happening in Nepal on the level of the communist parties active there.

You should post this in the political section. It's definately worth debating outside the Trotskyist group.

I just posted this in "news from nepal".
This is quite interesting, however they are not the first maoist organisation to start taking up the ideas of trotsky, same has happened in for example the Philipines and India.

Why isn't the democratic question mentioned? It is the central theme of the Permanent Revolution since it was developed in 1850. The Maoists supported a democratic front and have to reconcider it: this tactic doesn't work.

I say be patient. Give them some time. The only reason they are Maoists, I believe, is all relative to culture and geography. They're right next door to China, so Mao seems mcloser to home if you know what I mean. But eventually I think they'll develop a deeper sense of revolutionary socialism if they continue on the path they're on, and hell, maybe we'll have a strong and leadership occupying section of the FI to join our ranks by 2012.

Well there's not much sense in joining FI if youre a trotskyist. Secondly it's more a discussion club than an international in my experience

What is this sectarian and unsubstantiated remark adding to the discussion?

    Nothing really.
I just loathe FI because of personal experience

Well, the USFI's actual name these days really is the Fourth International. I find that a bit pretentious. I would say I do see the "discussion club" problems aswell, not that there aren't good activists in the USFI aswell.

As for the Maoists, it's good to hear that Trotsky is a part of the discussion, but I wouldn't say there is much of a trotskyist tendency in the United Communist party of Nepal (Maoists).
