Conversation Between Q and Zoroaster

  1. Zoroaster
    Ok, thanks.
  2. Q
    1. Yes.
    2. There used to be a thread about that in /Learning, but I can't find it now. The gist of it was that there is no unified view on this question really.
    3. I know of the Red Party, which is a very young group. Then there are some sites, like the North Star, that have an orthodox influence.
  3. Zoroaster
So I have three question dealing with Orthodox Marxism.

    1. Is the book "Revolutionary Strategy" by Mike Macnair any good?

    2. What is the Orthodox Marxist view of the Soviet Union "I. E, Degenerated worker's state, state capitalist, etc.).

    3. Are there any organizations in the United States that have Orthodox Marxist tendencies or ideas?

    That is all.
  4. Zoroaster
    Thanks.
  5. Q
    Already done.
  6. Zoroaster
Could you except my join request for the "Neo-Bakuninists" group? I'd appreciate it.
  7. Zoroaster
    Thanks.
  8. Q
That depends. If you are into 'activism', a heavy positive bias on Trotsky, a relatively centralised organisation, have some leeway on internal freedom of opinion and work with serious comrades, then SAlt is certainly a valid choice.

In my opinion the CWI is one of the better groups to be working with, among the far left, but they have their limitations as well. So, contact your local branch and see if it works out for you.
  9. Zoroaster
Do you think that the party "Socialist Alternative" would be a good place to get involved in politics?
  10. Zoroaster
Ok, thanks for clearing that up.
