    Default The situation

I wish I could, but I can't speak Greek I'm afraid. I've also found it difficult to find full information about the situation. Perhaps some Greek comrades here could tell me about what's happening.

Now, I know that there are occupations but I want to ask some questions about them.

1.What is the nature of these occupations?
    2. What is being decided in these occupations?
    3. what do people consider is going to be the long term objectives of these occupations?
    4. Are there plans to further these occupations by direct and organised means?
    5. Is there political education/agitating and organising happening throughout the working class?
    6. Do people feel that this could turn into armed insurrection?

I'm trying to get an understanding of whether there is still momentum or if there will be enough momentum to move this into a different phase of rebellion.

    Thanks

Could I suggest to our Greek-speaking members that you encourage your comrades, especially those in Greece, to join Revleft?

We have members, they just dont post so often!I have seen a lot of them, but so far we dont have the "reaction" and activity he thought at the start of the sub-forum!

I will make an advertisement video and post it on youtube during christmas.

I can only answer about the universities's occupation msotly..

1.Most i have seen lasted some days (public buildings, radio and TV stations) were demands were expressed (and were afterwards criticised as not democratic by the media).
However in schools and universities ( almost 150 departments closed) it is ongoing, the demands are being decided by the department's students' council and vary, according to the dominant ideology in the department)

for example,in my uni other demands were rather good (the goverment and every other goverment of such policy should quit, disbanding of riot police and every other measure of struggle suppression, public free education, etc etc), but in others where the goverments' syndicalist group were majority, there was voted 'occupation due to mourning of alexis'
    FUCKING INSULT TO HIS MEMORY

2.The occupation comittee (all those present in the building) talks about how to go on, about activities, informing people at the city, etc.

3.Pretty much.Especially when 2 years ago there were similar long term occupations (but not such large scale incidents of public unrest) and the semester was jeopardized.

I do not know for sure about the rest, as recent health problems prevented me from participating actively..

I'm trying to get an understanding of whether there is still momentum or if there will be enough momentum to move this into a different phase of rebellion.
I m not sure if i can call it a rebellion.. the body of the working class is fairly absent i would say.

This is what a comrade answered in your questions(in greek) here

    Translation(as better i can)

    1. The nature of (high school)students occupations its merely a protest about the murdering of the kid. (University) students occupations have a most advanced agenda (state repression, education matter, political claims etc).
    2. At occupations its mainly decided the course of mobilizations , the coordination with other political spaces and different local actions.
3.There are a lot opinions on what should happened or what will happen. Thats who's sure ,today, its the politicization of a big part of the youth and the solidarity of a big part of the greek society too.
    4. General political education inside working class in the way marxists want ,dont exists, if anyone excludes την constantly presence of kke in some labour spaces. This, of course, doesnt mean that there isnt relative political conversations between workers. It just develops spontaneously and not in the frames some "campaign" :-ρ
    5. No

Obviously this are my opinions and if the comrade wants to learn more tell him to take a look at the english section of indymedia.

You can find it here TAT
As i said that was a translation of what a comrade said in the athensindymedia, there arent my answers!

Things are starting to get REALLY fucked up."New generation terrorists",as the media keep babbling about are rampant.

A 21 year old cop was shot at Eksarxia (the 'anarchist district' of athens, where Alexis was shot as well. This, added to the shooting of a young syndicalist student and the shooting of a riot police bus seem to me as a sign and an excuse for heavier police presence, suppression of civil rights and most importantly the withdrawal of university sancuary (which is already vulnerable BY LAW).

So so so many provocations, we have to be DEAD CAREFUL or things will end up patriot act - like.
