i don't really think thats sodenbou(whatever) and Del Toros intention....
Traffic for example wasn't exactly capitalist or pro-american propaganda either was it?

For a good Del Toro flick watch either Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas or The Usual Suspects

Oh, the irony! A hollywood film about Che? What do you think he would say?

I heard that there will be a film about his journeys around Latin-America. Don't know if that's true and I certainly do hope that it isn't. I hate it, hate it when they do movies about things like that. Some jerk playing Che, eh? I think Che would like his thoughts to be reden, not to be seen. (Has anybody read the book about his travels? It's really good! )

Oh the time, oh the ways!

    I can imagine the ending.
Che left to die by a chuckling Castro, vain attempts by Felix to save him.
Maybe a last minute rejection of socialism, for good measure, perhaps some mercy asked for too. A soft focus picture of his family crying behind a rain swept window. A tearful presidential assistant giving the news to the press.

    MJM, wow..
What you said really touched. Never thought it that far, I only felt anger - if this is true, that is.
But I almost wet my eyes while thinking about what you said... Che's family and so on. And if Fidel really did that, how was he feeling when he heard that Che no longer exists...

For the record I don't believe Fidel betrayed Che.
But you can see the kind of emotional stuff that hollywood could pull on us.

I have heard that Benjamin Bratt, the fellow from the series Law and Order has been considered to play Che. I saw a thing on E tv about him and his hair was long and he was sparcely bearded. His explanation for his appearance was he ws getting ready to porteay Che . Not sure if full movie or tv movie, he didn't say.

judging from soderbergh's previous movies, it won't be one of those cheap sentimental "hollywood" movies with a quick rejection of socialism. also, just because a movie is made through hollywood, it doesn't mean it's automaticaly bad. often, hollywood is the only means a trully open minded person can make movies.

in any case, if this one (assuming it is going to be made) turns out bad, you'll all have to wait a few years for mine. i'll make it independently if i have to.

Even if they made the movie about one specific period in Che's life, I can guarantee you they will dumb it down. It would probably be like what happened with Steal This Movie, only worse (Not that Che and Abbie Hoffman have anything in common, really), because they will just take away any non-mainstream religious beliefs/questions to make it easier for pop culture kids to enjoy. I could have sworn that Che said he'd crush Jesus like a bug if he got the chance, but it's pretty much unavoidable that he'll be portrayed as a Catholic, since some of his friends were and he was Baptized. Also after September 11, don't expect any questions to be asked about American foreign policy.

I certainly hope that there is a geniune attempt to make a movie about CHE. It is about fuckin' time. However, i am worried that it essentially being a Hollywood production, the content, information, and message may be twisted and controlled by the imperislistic state of the U.S. Remember that Hollywood just promised fuck-head Bush that the industry would being making movies showing America battling terrorism(wouldn't they be fighting themselves) and how the world saviour America will always prevail. I say a big FUCK YOU to Bush and his Masonic conspiracy to corrupt and destroy the beauty of the true human being-- the revolutionist! If any more is heard abouth this movie keep us updated, comrades, as will i do the same.

It'll probably be about an Argentinian murderer who goes to Bolivia to start a violent series of evil atrocities and slaughter against the people and state, and the CIA are forced to go in and help the Bolivian government in capturing this terrorist, but in the final battle he is slain while cowering like a wimp.

Typical Ranbo-esque movie. Sounds like something the US would throw together, does it not?

And I know that the events surrounding Che's death are wrong up there, but the original, official, CIA reports Che was killed in battle. Little did we know for many years that he had actually been executed without trial.

My dad reckons it'll be a turkey if it shows Che in a good light because the American public won't be able to accept the name of someone who's name is connected with terrorism like Che's name sadly is.

But if anyone's ever seen the film "Sweet Liberty" the film about the making of a film (about the war of independance) (where lots of girls take of their clothes off) It says that the 3 ways of selling a film are.

    1. Defy Authority
    2. Destroy Property
    3. take peoples clothes off

And a Che film would probably have 2 of those and the third could be added.

    1. Che is the ultimate symbol of rebellion
    2. Che probably destroyed a bit of property
    3. Well people could take their clothes off I suppose

    problem.

They get less money if you actually watch it legally because it's cheaper.

Unless you make a few million copies and "lose" them in random places.

It costs $8.50 to get into a movie around here, which is the price of one book and one pamphlet at a used book store. Or, two entertainment magazines that, despite being corporate whores, usually end up panning bio-movies anyway.
