I have it on good information that in the promotion the new Planet of The Apes film, or people cashing in on the 'craze' are producing such t-shirts. Here in Britain a branch of the Anglican Church produced a poster of Christ as Che, with the slogan 'Meek and Mild, I Don't Thinks So!'

Che's image is big bucks now and has been for a while. There are tonnes of t-shirts in Britain with images of Che, or derivations of Che's image on them. I don't buy into it, little, if any of the money goes to any political campaigns, or to Cuba unless they are produced for a solidarity campaign or in Cuba, where they go to fund Health and Education via taxes.

Visit my site and check out some original Che Posters. There aren't many but they are some of the best Cuban Che posters ever made. But I intend to update it regularly if I get enopugh traffic.

I think it sad when a Capitalist country like the U.S. gets profit from their enemy. In this case Che. But they maybe adding fuel to a fire by selling them...Who knows.

I always found that kinda ironic too. Even though i did give in and buy a che shirt :/

What's up with the posters of Jesus as Che? RedSteve could you elaborate? I'm having trouble deciphiring if they're insulting or praising Che. (tune brain in not)

If you think about it, Jesus was a communist, I know the church will not admit it, but listen to what he preached there are many parallels of communism in Jesus' doctrines.

It's true that Christian ideology can be interpreted so that it advocates communism.

The early Christian and Jewish communities practiced communism because they believed that the ownership of property was wrong.

One communist who predates Marx called John Ball (Who I think is probably the best thing to happen to the communist movement along with Rosa Luxumbourg and Che Guaverra) disagreed with the way the Church was used as an excuse for the peasants to be slaves for the lords and to make women slaves to their husbands and used the bible to show his ideas through Christianity. In 1381 he joined a revolution to overthrow the king which failed and he was executed (Which is a shame because his ideas are a real slap in the face for those who accuse us of being Athiest Stalinists.)

    very,

    Jesus was a communist
    or Che was a christian?
    Oy maybe communism and
    chistianity have the same meaning?

It's a blasphemy to depict Jesus as Che.

I have done the contrary and
have a drawing of Che as a saint.

I too have to say I find it sad that capitalists make money on selling Che t-shirts/posters etc. I am doing a small project on che for history-class (we're learning about the cold war) and I find it ironic that the ppl he was fighting against now make money on him.

i saw a guy wearing the gorilla t-shirt on the bus the other day too.
Have you ever thought about the fact that Che was a guerilla, hence the play on the word gorilla? That's what I thought it was anyway. Quite funny I think too.

The most hypocritical thing I've ever seen is I was in this store, and I saw this red shirt with che on it, and on the bottom it said "CHE." So I get a little excited and go over there. I take a little look at the tag and it says "Made of U.S.A. componets, assembled in Mexico." I'm thinking, "wow, a che guevara shirt made in a fucking mexican sweatshop....that's typical for capitalism." So after I tell the store workers and them not understanding a word I said, I left with disgust and no Che shirt. But I did end up finding a rage against the machine shirt with Emiliano Zapata on the front and the quote "it's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees" on it. I also ended up getting a patch of the zapatista flag and of che on top of a red star. So it was a good day,

Drunk tank said "Jesus was a communist or Che was a christian". Che was completly not a christian. In fact when they played soccer when he was a kid the teams were those who believed in god and those who didnt. guess which one he was on?

Why is it at the moment so many clothes have cuba, havana or che on them? It pisses me off, they don't have a clue what the meaning is behind it and are abusing something and at the same time lining the pockets of a capitalist.

well its pretty obvious; dont you think? either 1. Che was a "guerilla leader" or 2. the "guys" in Rage look like a "gorrillas". hehe.

thats okay che jexter because even though he was unware of God some could say he lived the mission of what "Jesus" the revolutionary stood for which is this: to fight oppression of the poor and establish justice. actually its pretty simple word but somehow everyone complicates it. good point you have there though.

and remember its worse to know or believe in God and not do his will (each person defines that for themselves on a personal level) and know God and do nothing.

drunktank what the heck are you talking about...gee when is all this stuff gonna quit, the minute you try to express or experiment an "idea" people are all over it with "blasphemy", or "hypocracy" or "whatever", this is why most people remain silent because of this kind of ranting. i mean i strongly believe in God but lets face it nobody has all the answers so we need our brothers to learn and experience. quit trying to put fear into people with that stuff, okay?? i mean what you know exactly what God is? then spill it cause we need to know. ah hem, sorry bro but whats up?

    Philosophy Football
has the greatest line in T-shirts,
    I have the Che shirt
and I also have this one that i wear mostly to family gathering here, when i know the more right wing members of my wife's family will be there. (remind me to tell you the "cuba" story one day)

I would also recommend this ZAPATISTA shirt to all, as 5 quid from every shirt if going to fund www.chiapas.indymedia.org

I despise the entire hyprocrisy of it all. The capitalist system getting rich from Che! I despise the whole thing, Cuba and Havana etc being printed on tshirts too. The most annoying thing is seeing the "trendies" wearing their Che t-shirts alongside their Nike footwear etc. I actually asked a few bearers of the t-shirt about it. They had no clue who they had on their t-shirt was, one reply was "some Spanish bloke".

I myslef have two tshirts I made myself.

okay...then what? wear Che with boots? one laced and one untied, or wear Che barefoot? myself i prefer to keep people in my heart but i like photographs whether on a shirt or poster, etc. just because i like it. face it anyone would feel uncomfortable with their face all over the place, especially when your misunderstood. when i mean love Che i mean learn about the man, not the image and follow his example not by religion, marxism, guerilla leader but share his love and passion for LIFE.

im just curious, so i hope you can explain something; what does a person not do to not be called a hypocrite. when Che used the word i think he meant the entire systematic as a whole?

p.s. not everyone is so special that they make their own shirts, okay? your lucky if you have the time to go buy one. gee...

so what! yes i am very sorry that there are sweat shops and low wages and poor people and heck i could even apologize for my own existance because sometimes i think to myself "what did i ever do to be so lucky" and i hear God say "nothing dummy" so what do i do i thank God for my life and i pray that one day everything will come together and there will be equal opportunity for everyone, especially children!!!
