Peaceful opposition? Fuck that. RATM's music is incredibly boring and preachy as shit.
    You seem neat, but...

They divide us by our color, they divide us by our tongue,
They divide us men and women, they divide us old and young,
But they'll tremble at our voices when they hear these verses sung,

And then they were escorted by a police caravan straight through the march...
Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature's law is wrong it learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams, it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete when no one else ever cared.

If you ever needed any proof that rage against the machine wasn't about the music, this would be it.

They were going to do a free concert,
It's quite nice of them to take a break from selling their $14.99 CDs to do this.

They said they signed with the most politically accepting label they could. They want to preach to the masses not the converted. That's why they choose a mainstream label. Maybe if they make new stuff, who knows.

For Rage to use independent labels is like Chomsky disallowing Borders to carry any of his books and telling his fans to find an independent bookseller in New York City for their political needs.

    Plus this

...Artists have got to starve, after all.

To be fair he always ate on stage.

RATM remains a pretty boring band, but still atleast they try something as activists.

Also the one video (for Freedom, I think?) that was talking about how the leader of the Shining Path was imprisoned in Peru, or something.

I mean, if someone expresses support for the Shining Path I would assume they kinda support violence as a means of creating change.

From the little information I've read about the Shining Path, it seems like the entire group is composed of psychopathic lunatics with a Mao fetish.

That could all be dirty bourgeois lies, though...
