^^^ I'll add one more point to this otherwise excellent article: neo-con circles in Washington want to expand NATO not only into the Caucasus, but to Central Asia. The smart neo-cons, most notably Zbigniew Brzezinski, have historically aligned themselves with Democrats, and have plans to break Russia up as part of their "smart" strategy for continuing US dominance.
