New aircraft hijacking plan aborted
THE stimulus provided by the United States government through its deliberate and infamous conduct of granting impunity and privileges to the hijackers of passenger planes and maritime vessels who have employed terrorist methods involving knives and firearms and threats to kill captured hostages, has very serious consequences. It has resulted in elements with lengthy criminal records planning actions similar to those of the DC-3 and AN-24 hijackings on the Nueva Gerona to Havana route, which occurred March 19 and 31 this year.
Yesterday, Thursday April 10, the Ministry of the Interior central office on the Isle of Youth reported that between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. five individuals snatched an AK-M rifle in a surprise and violent attack on a Military Service soldier who was on guard at the Area Number 6 post of a Revolutionary Armed Forces reserve and provisions depot near the town of La Fe, before escaping in an automobile.
At 7:50 p.m., the vehicle was captured near the airport parking lot carrying four of the five men who had assaulted the soldier. They were immediately arrested, and the AK-M bayonet rifle with three chargers, two knives and exercise weights in the trunk were all confiscated.

Death penalty applied to main ferry hijackers for terrorist crimes
ON April 5, as was announced at the due time, the individuals responsible for the hijacking and attempted violent rerouting to the United States of the Baraguá ferry were brought before the Crimes against State Security courtroom in City of Havana People’s Court. This hijacking was accompanied by extreme violence and death threats to the crew and passengers on board the ferry in service in the Bay of Havana.
