Default I was wrong, Right goes after Obama / Weathermen, not Obama / Black Panthers

In an earlier thread, I noted my surprise that the far Right hasn't tried to smear Obama by mentioning that former BPP leader, and current Congressman, Bobby Rush is a friend and supporter of Obama.

Instead, the Clinton campaign just came out with a ridiculous attack based on a brief meeting between Obama and Bill Ayers, and his wife Bernadine Dohrn in 1995! Ayers is also said to have donated $200 to Obama's campaign 7 years ago [I'm not allowed to include links in my posts yet, but just Google "hillary, obama and weather underground" and you'll find a dozen links.]

The Clinton team justified this attack by saying that they were just bringing up something that the Right would use in the general election. Yeah, right...

This is not intended as an endorsement of the Obama candidacy; I'm just reporting a news story. Now if Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn were running for President, that I could endorse!

Who cares if Hillary attacks Obama?

Or if Obama wins or loses?

    [Note: these questions are rhetorical.]
"The Communists disdain to conceal their views and aims. They openly declare that their ends can be attained only by the forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions. Let the ruling classes tremble at a Communistic revolution. The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win.

Workers of the World Unite!" -Karl Marx

"The dictatorship of the proletariat, i.e., the organization of the vanguard of the oppressed as the ruling class for the purpose of suppressing the oppressors, cannot result merely in an expansion of democracy. Simultaneously with an immense expansion of democracy, which for the first time becomes democracy for the poor, democracy for the people, and not democracy for the money-bags, the dictatorship of the proletariat imposes a series of restrictions on the freedom of the oppressors, the exploiters, the capitalists. " -Vladimir Lenin

"The People's democratic dictatorship needs the leadership of the working class. For it is only the working class that is most far-sighted, most selfless and most thoroughly revolutionary. The entire history of revolution proves that without the leadership of the working class revolution fails and that with the leadership of the working class revolution triumphs." -Mao Zedong

Why, because they at one time participated in revolutionary politics? If they're donating to a capitalist politician, it's obvious they're no longer supportable (any more than Charles Barron or Bobby Rush are).

I've tried to control a chaotic universe. And it's a losing battle. But I can't let go. I've tried, but I can't." - Harvey Pekar

Exactly. The left needs to quit paying attention to bourgeois politicians, they offer nothing for the workers. Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn may have been revolutionary 30 years ago, but these days they are little more than liberal college professors, who apparently donate some of their annaual salary to bourgeois politicians.

I guess this is why those "smiley" things were invented, so people could more easily detect sarcasm..... Does anyone think I was seriously endorsing the former Weathermen leaders as candidates for President? I'll try to avoid lame attempts at humor in the future...

A defeat for Hillary is a defeat for the DLC and its associated bourgeois factions. While it's hardly a panacea, it's not anything to cry about.

I met Bill Ayers last month and we talked about the election. He said that he'd always voted Dem, even while underground, but that Dohrn had always refused to vote. It sounded like he would be supporting the Dems for the same reason that some people on this forum do: because they're ostensibly not as bad as the Republicans. In his defense, he believed that the Left should be strong on its own, and have the politicians coming to us.

I think he's wrong, and I told him so, but I figured it'd be worthwhile to relate his actual position.

This isn't the only case of such an attack on Obama:
