Good news. Nice to see the old chant; "No Nazis! No KKK, No Fascist USA!" not to mention the pole-fighting and chair throwing. The one Antifa got bashed in the face with a chair, hope he only got hurt in the nose and not in his pride. Again, good news.

March 2001. There was a scuffle outside the library and police were too concerned about that to be inside the meeting room itself as antifa and fash sauntered in. Everyone looked around, saw no cops, and the rest is what you see. It wasn't just chair throwing. At some point, Matt Hale himself got whacked with a 2x4. He was doing "public meetings" all over the country for the rest of the year, culminating in one in York, PA that ended up in a full on war between antifa and fash.

For more than a dozen years, Hale has booked library meeting rooms in his hometown of Peoria. In the last five years, said Peoria Public Library Director Sue Herring, Hale has spoken about once a year. Twice the library received bomb threats and had to evacuate the building before the speech.
In March 2001, recalled Herring, "We had a major confrontation in our meeting room—throwing of chairs, pepper spray released, not by police but by demonstrators or [Hale's] people." Protestors came from Chicago and from Bradley University in town. Driven outside, Hale then spoke for 40 minutes from the sidewalk, protected by police.
In response to that incident, the library changed its policy, stating that meeting rooms should not be used "in any way that materially interferes with the operation of the library or which threatens the safety of library property or patrons." It also stated that groups could be charged for extraordinary security needs—though the library was advised that the figure couldn't go beyond $2000.
When Hale applied for a meeting room this past April 20, in honor of Adolf Hitler's birthday, the library refused him. The rationale: he hadn't paid $4300 for the damaged chairs and the cost of the cleanup from last year's event. Hale promised to sue, claiming that the demonstrators were responsible for the problems. Herring acknowledged she wasn't sure who instigated the violence but said the library's longstanding policy was that those booking the room are responsible for the premises. In the end, Hale didn't sue but spoke from outside the library.
