Come witness one of the most important trials in Civil Rights history!
Trial continues September 3-30, 2002
Carson City Courthouse
885 E. Musser St., (3rd Floor, District Court Dept. 1)
Carson City, Nevada We call upon all people of conscience, and all
people who believe in civil rights to stand with 10 American Indian brothers and
sisters falsely accused of murder.
All 10 now face a minimum of 40 years in prison.
On the night of August 23, 1998, a young American Indian
woman was assaulted, she called the police, but they refused to take any action.
A confrontation took place thereafter at a local motel, leaving a young Mexican
man injured. The police finally arrived on the scene only to brutalize the young
man and evidence suggests, kill him as well.
The Carson City Sheriffs’ Dept. even admitted on their own police
report that the young Mexican man resisted and they had to ‘restrain’ him.

As an example of the general attitude of the justice system in
Carson City, Sheriff Deputy Rod Bannister stated to the press as follows:
“I have no use for either one of these communities [American Indian and
Mexican]…
if they feel discriminated against oh well, I could care less.”
Carson City Sheriff Rod Bannister, CBS News, August 1998
Now the trial has begun in Carson City with not a single Latino or
American Indian on the jury although combined they make up 16% of Carson City’s
population.
Come out and show your support! With your presence, the jury, judge, and court
system will realize that they cannot treat human beings as guilty until proven
innocent, but must be forced to follow the Constitution of the United States,
where technically a person is “innocent until proven guilty.” When the people
come out to court, the judge suddenly appears to be on his best behavior and he
takes notice that the people will not let injustice prevail.
COME, CARAVAN, CARPOOL TO CARSON CITY
everyday until the people get justice!
If you can’t come out to Carson City, voice your outrage to the Sheriffs or the
District Attorney:

“There are no boundaries in this struggle to the death. We cannot be indifferent to what happens anywhere in the world, for a victory by any country over imperialism is our victory; just as any country's defeat is a defeat for all of us.” – Che Guevara
“We still believe that the struggle of Ireland for freedom is a part of the world-wide upward movement of the toilers of the earth, and we still believe that the emancipation of the working class carries within it the end of all tyranny – national, political and social.” – James Connolly
