As in Calgary, Alberta, Canada?
"If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom and yet depreciate agitation, are people who want crops without ploughing the ground; they want rain without thunder and lightning; they want the ocean without the roar of
Yes.
Surprised of the conservative town?

Yes, Alberta as a whole is probably among the most conservative of Canadian provinces. Mostly because Alberta is basically Texas- full of oil, cattle, and idiot christians.
Definitely 'The South' of Canada.
Why? Going there?

I was reading in the Revolutionary Worker that there was a protest of some 2,500 people protesting the WTO, Bush's plans on terrorism, and globalization from all walks of life; quite beautiful actaully.

2,500 is a lot for Canada! lol
Are you referring to the recent G8 meeting?
Don't get me wrong, I know for a fact that there are many great people working for justice in Alberta, I simply haven't met any of them
And Alberta is a beautiful place, too bad oil interests in the province want to drill it up to sell energy to the Americans.
I love Edmonton though- haven't spent a lot of time in Calgary, just a bit.
But right on for those who gathered in Calgary. I will always support that.

Yes. That part of Canada I always wanted to go to, though, since so many dinosaur bones were discovered there.

Yeah, they were anti-g8 summit demonstrations. That's what all my G8 posts were all about a month ago or so^_^ It all went quite well, actually. I went to as many demonstations as I could!
Unfortunately I missed the recent post g8 community forum that was heldI think one day when I've got nothing to do I'm going to go downtown and keep the spirit alive with some sidewalk chalk!

Thanks Anne, I guess you live in Alberta?
I'm in BC, and things here are heading toward the Albertan model. Sigh...
Another thought about the '2,500.' There are 20 Americans for every 1 Canadian. So, that's like 50,000 if it had happened in the US. Especially now that Canadian Customs is clamping down on 'foreign demonstrator' entry because of the so-called 'fiasco' of The Summit of the Americas in Quebec City.

I do indeed live in Alberta...Calgary in fact. I just got back from a trip to BC though. Did you come to any of the demonstrations in Calgary or the surrounding area?
