YOUTH TO ORGANIZE MASS PROTEST IN LOS ANGELES
The Armenian Youth Federation of Western United States will organize a
protest against inhumanity in front of the Turkish Consulate on Wednesday
April 24.
The Protest is aimed at targeting crimes against humanity that continue to
persist in the 21st century, while demanding justice from the Turkish
government for the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
"The Turkish government should have been punished for its crime of
genocide," said chairman of AYF, Vicken Sosikian. "The Holocaust, Rwanda,
Cambodia, and even 21st century crimes against humanity could have been
avoided had the Young Turk government of 1915 been punished."
The protest, which has been occurring for over two decades, will begin at 4
p.m. and commence at 6:30 p.m. on Wilshire blvd., in front of the Turkish
consulate in Los Angeles. Youth from all backgrounds will hold placards
reading such slogans, as "Eastern Turkey is Western Armenia" and will chant
slogans such as "Turkey guilty of genocide."
