I'd just like to discuss some problems I have with holding on to the Socialist lideals I have. I have been brought up from a working class background but my family has recently in the last five years prospered and moved into the middle class. Now things such as compsumption and material good shave come into my life more things such as Sky TV and CDs. The worst thing is that I am a DJ which probably to my understanding even worse. I just can't see how I can beleive in the ideals of Socialism and not be in the working class and be concerned with materialsitic possesion. I really do feel like quitting. All I see in Socialist history is the deciet of the masses by so called Socialists who in the end revert to dictators in the so called 'dictatorship of the polertariat' how can the movement condone such a fascist action. I can also see no future for socialism as all that seems to be done is biggering rather than actions. Did not Marx say that revolution was neded to introduce Communsim? All i see is less and less support for our cause. Thank god there are places like Turkey and Colombia who do have areason to flollow Marxist routes to get rid of their pursecuting Fascist governments. What do you guys think about my situation and the position of the movement?

Your job is fine. Spinning vinyl is hardly contributing to the entrenchment of capitalism. And when you are able to move out on your own, you will be able to refine the material aspects of having to living in a capitalist regime that best supports your beliefs.

As far as the movement, I came across this quote today:

"...ironically, perhaps, the best organised dissenters in the world today are anarchists, who are busily undermining capitalism while the rest of the left is still trying to form committees."

    –Jeremy Hardy, The Guardian (UK)
