    I'm going to start from yesterday:

    September 13, 2007
    Thursday: 41 Iraqis Killed, 20 Wounded


    In today's most significant event, an important Sunni tribe leader was assassinated in Ramadi along with several people in his retinue. Altogether, at least 41 Iraqis were killed and 20 more were wounded. No foreign military were reported killed.

    A highly influential, Sunni tribe alliance leader, Abdul Sattar Abu Risha, two bodyguards, and a personal secretary were killed in a bombing near his Ramadi home. The Anbar Tribal Alliance joined forces with U.S. troops last year to fight al-Qaeda, and its members have since become assassination targets.

    In Baghdad, 11 dumped bodies were recovered. Five people were killed and 10 wounded during a car bombing in al-Talabiya. In Zayouna, a roadside bomb killed one and wounded three others. No casualties were reported during a bombing in Karrada. Also, Iraqi forces killed four suspects and arrested 51 others in various locations around the city.

    A sniper killed a policeman in western Mosul. Gunmen wounded two policemen in al-Jazaer. Three more policemen were wounded near a bus station in northern Mosul. Also, a Kurdish bakery worker was killed last night.

    A roadside bomb in Fallujah killed one policeman and wounded two others.

    A civilian was kidnapped in Albu Najim.

    U.S. forces killed four suspects, including two women, in Baquba.

    Joint U.S.-Iraqi forces killed one suspect and arrested six others in Diwaniya.

    Twelve suspects were detained in Taji.

    During security operations in Kirkuk, 22 suspects were arrested.

    Coalition forces killed five and detained 11 suspects in northern and central Iraq. U.S. forces killed three suspects and arrested 92 others in separate incidents.

    Friday: 4 GIs, 43 Iraqis Killed; 20 Iraqis Wounded


    At least 43 Iraqis were killed and 20 more wounded. Among the incidents was a suicide bombing in Baiji that killed or wounded over two dozen people. A roadside bomb killed four GIs in Diyala province today. Three GIs were wounded in combat in Garma; usually, GI injuries do not get reported in the media.

    Outside a Baiji restaurant/checkpoint, a suicide truck bomber rammed his vehicle into two parked police cars killing 11 people, mostly policemen, and wounding 16 others.

    In Baghdad, six dumped bodies were recovered; three of the corpses were beheaded and found in Doura.

    Outside Baghdad, gunmen killed three farmers who were guarding their small village.

    Gunmen shot three people dead near Suwayra.

    In Kirkuk, gunmen stormed a home and killed an Iraq army soldier. Also, a policeman was shot dead in the al-Wasiti neighborhood.

    A woman was killed and her daughter wounded during an armed attack in Hawija.

    A roadside bomb in Fallujah killed one policeman and wounded two others.

    In Balad, the bodies of a judge and a police officer were found.

    The body of a former Iraqi Army major general was found yesterday in Mosul; he had been kidnapped on Monday.

    At the central Hilla home of a senior army official, gunmen clashed with guards, killing one and wounding a second.

    Three gunmen were killed and three others arrested after they were caught planting a roadside bomb in Khalis.

    U.S. forces killed four suspects and detained five in Yusufiya. Another gunman was killed in Tarmiyah.

    At a raid on a mosque in Garma, U.S. troops killed three gunmen. Three GIs were also wounded.

    Saturday: 1 GI, 57 Iraqis Killed; 43 Iraqis Wounded


    At least 57 Iraqis were killed and 43 more were injured in the latest violence. Several assassination attempts in and around Baquba left a number of important figures and their companions dead or wounded. A Task Force Marne soldier was killed and four were wounded during an IED explosion in the capital yesterday.

    In Baghdad, 11 dumped bodies were discovered throughout the city. A suicide bomber at an Amil bakery killed 11 people and wounded 18 others as they were breaking Ramadan fast for the day; the dead included two children. A roadside bomb near al-Shabb Stadium left no casualties. Also, a rocket attack in New Baghdad killed two people and wounded two more on Thursday.

    In Baquba, a former Iraqi army brigadier general was killed by gunmen who were wearing police uniforms and driving an ambulance; two of the general’s companions were also killed. In a separate incident, gunmen attacked a police intelligence official; two bodyguards were killed and three more were wounded. Also, an Iraqi soldier was shot and killed at a checkpoint.

    Two sheikhs were assassinated in Abu Saida. The sheikhs belonged to the Baquba Salvation Council, a sister group to the Anbar Salvation Council. The head of the Anbar group was killed on Thursday. Both councils are working to rid their provinces of al-Qaeda operatives.

    Seven people were wounded when a roadside bomb blew up at a petrol station in Balad Ruz.

    Gunmen tossed a grenade at a Fallujah checkpoint, killing a civilian and wounding five policemen.

    A roadside bomb killed two people on a highway between Kirkuk and Mosul near Kharaba Root.

    Two people were injured during a bombing in Mahaweel.

    In Iskandariya, a roadside bomb wounded five soldiers. Also, mortar fire injured a woman when a shell fell on her home.

    A charred car containing two bodies was found in Khalis.

    Three bodies belonging to Jumaili tribesmen were found in Garma.

    No one was harmed when an explosive device was detonated in Kirkuk or in a Katyusha rocket attack.

    Iraqi troops arrested a Libyan gunman in Mosul and prevented a large attack.

    American troops killed a suspect during an operation in Diwaniya.

    In Muqdadiya, U.S. troops killed a suspect and arrested his son.

    U.S. and Iraqi forces killed 14 suspects and arrested 17 during operations in northern and central Iraq.

    Turkish artillery fell in Dohuk province scaring villagers and destroying properties but leaving no casualties.

    Sunday: 120 Iraqis Killed, 73 Wounded


    As expected, attacks have increased during the Ramadan holiday. At least 120 Iraqis were killed and 73 were wounded in the latest violence. Although many of the dead were suspected militants, several bombings targeted civilians. Also, hundreds of bodies were discovered in mass graves dating to the Saddam regime.

    No casualties were as yet reported in a pair of armed attacks against British troops in the Basra area.

    Five mass graves were discovered in the Amara area. The graves date from the early 1990s and contain the remains of over 300 people.

    In Baghdad, 12 unidentified bodies were recovered. A clash involving American security contractors left nine Iraqis dead and 19 more wounded in the Mansour district. A separate boming in the neighborhood killed two and wounded five others near al-Rahman mosque. In al-Harthiya, a roadside bomb killed one and wounded three more. An IED explosion in Ma'moun killed one person and injured two more. Gunmen killed two officials, one from Bayaa and one from Doura. Also, mortar fire near al-Shabb stadium killed one and wounded three others.

    Suspected al-Qaeda militants killed 14 and wounded ten in a pair of villages near Muqdadiya and torched a number of shops. Three children were among the dead.

    A suicide bomber at a Tuz Khormato cafe killed eight and wounded 22 others.

    In Mosul, gunmen killed a Sunni preacher, who belonged to the Kurdish Islamic Union.

    A roadside bomb killed two policemen in Tal Afar.

    In Baquba, gunmen hijacked an ambulance carrying eight people.

    Two people were killed and four were wounded during a mortar attack in Samarra. A child was among the dead.

    Militants attacked Hilla tribesmen, killing two and wounding three others. The bodies of two kidnap victims were later found.

    In Kirkuk, a guard and a pedestrian were wounded during a roadside bombing that was detonated near a Kurdistan Democratic Party (PDK) motorcade. A young boy was kidnapped when a truck he was sitting in was stolen.

    A pharmacist was assassinated in Rumeitha. He was a member of the al-Sadr movement.

    A police colonel was shot and killed in Ifech.

    The 12-year-old son and the father of an unspecified Sadrist leader were killed during a U.S.-Iraqi raid on the Sadrist’s home in Diwaniya. A police officer was killed in a separate incident.

    The Iraqi army killed 47 suspects and arrested 21 in different locations.

    U.S. forces reported capturing a suspect responsible for killing Abu Risha last week.

    Also, a school in Qarah Tappa was blown-up three days before final exams.

    U.S. forces killed eight suspects and arrested seven in areas around Baghdad.

    Monday: 2 GIs, 33 Iraqis Killed; 44 Iraqis Wounded


    A day after a controversial shooting involving American contractors, the Iraq government says that it will revoke Blackwater USA’s license and prosecute any contractors who used excessive force during the incident. At least 33 Iraqis were killed and 44 more wounded in other attacks. Also, two GIs were killed in separate events.

    The DOD reported an American soldier died Sunday from an illness and a Marine died in a non-combat incident in Anbar province Saturday.

    In Baghdad, 11 dumped bodies were recovered from mostly western neighborhoods. A car bomb killed as many as ten people and wounded 20 near a Shi’ite mosque in Jamila. Nine people were wounded during a roadside bombing in Yarmouk. In Nahdha, three people were wounded in a separate roadside bomb attack.

    An Iraqi civilian was killed and two more were wounded during a shooting in a small neighborhood near Kirkuk.

    Two civilians were killed separately in the Hawija area, one in al-Sarai and the other in Jalal.

    Gunmen targeting a police convoy in Basra wounded the city’s police chief.

    In Hilla, an explosion at an Iraqi army base left 10 wounded soldiers.

    A Kurdish citizen was shot and killed in Mosul. Also, a four-day curfew was lifted.

    A sniper killed a policeman at a Fallujah checkpoint last night.

    A female Wassit council member, Ikhlas al-Shimari, escaped injury during a bomb attack on her Kut home.

    U.S. forces killed seven suspects and detained 31 others in central and northern Iraq. Fourteen were arrested in Fallujah and 12 were captured in Baghdad.

    I would suggest that this could be pinned !
    It is possible to build gigantic factories according to a ready-made Western pattern by bureaucratic command – although, to be sure, at triple the normal cost. But the farther you go, the more the economy runs into the problem of quality, which slips out of the hands of a bureaucracy like a shadow.     Tuesday: 5 GIs, 69 Iraqis Killed; 83 Iraqis Wounded


    At least 69 Iraqis were killed and 83 more injured during numerous bombings and armed attacks throughout the country. The oil infrastructure was also targeted. Five GIs were reported killed and three were wounded in separate incidents.

    Three Task Force Lightning soldiers were killed and three more were wounded during an explosion in Diyala province today. In Ninevah province, a Task Force Lightning soldier was killed in a vehicle accident. Also, on Saturday a soldier died from non-combat related injuries.

    In Baghdad, nine dumped bodies were recovered. A double car bomb killed 11 and wounded 30 near the Health Ministry in Bab al-Muadham. A car bomb in the Ur neighborhood killed eight and wounded 15 others. Another car bomb, this one in Zayouna, killed two people and wounded five more. A roadside bomb killed a civilian and wounded two policemen in Za’afaraniya. Another explosion killed a policeman in central Baghdad. Also, a suicide bomber killed a civilian in Baladiyat.

    A suicide bomber attacked a mobile phone shop in Jalawlaa, killing four and wounded 15 others. Women and children were among the casualties.

    During a police raid in Shurqat, a policeman and two militants were killed; four suspects were detained.

    In Mosul, Iraqi troops were able to kill a suicide bomber before reaching their convoy, but two soldiers were still wounded. Also, three bodies, one beheaded, were found.

    The morgue in Baquba reported receiving a total of eight dumped bodies from separate locations. Shelling killed one person and wounded three members of the Baquba Salvation Council. Two people were wounded in a different mortar attack. Also, gunmen attack a family riding in their car; three members were killed and two were wounded.

    Three bodies bearing gunshots and torture marks were found near Qaim.

    Yesterday in Iskandariya, a man was killed and his son wounded during an armed attack.

    The deputy governor of Salah ad Din province escaped a bomb attack in Tikrit with only light injuries; two bodyguards were also wounded. Also, an armed attack left three dead and two injured. A blanket curfew is now in place.

    No casualties were reported during shelling in Basra. Imam Emad Abdul Kareem was injured and a bodyguard was killed during an assassination attempt on him; he is a representative of Grand Ayatollah Sistani.

    U.S. forces killed three suspects and detained 13 during operations near Arab Jabour.

    At least 20 oil tankers were set ablaze on the Falluja-Samarra highway; many of the drivers escaped abduction. An explosion and fire on a portion of the Kirkuk-Baiji oil pipeline sent smoke billowing into the sky and spilled oil into the Tigris River, while damaging a second parallel pipeline.

    LOL, I just noticed that they update their list to take into account American soldiers who die later on in the hospital from their wounds. So when originally it said only Iraqi's they also add GI's.

    Wednesday: 1 GI, 22 Iraqis Killed; 20 Iraqis Wounded


    At least 22 Iraqis were killed or found dead and 20 more Iraqis were wounded during numerous attacks throughout the country. Also, an MND-B soldier was killed yesterday in the capital during a small arms attack.

    In Mosul, a roadside bomb wounded four civilians. A clash between gunmen and Iraqi troops that followed the bombing left 14 gunmen dead and three injured. Another roadside bomb killed an Iraqi soldier and wounded three more during these same clashes. In a separate incident, a suicide car bomber wounded two civilians during an attempted attack on a U.S. patrol. Also, two bodies bearing gunshot wounds were discovered.

    A suicide bomber blew himself up in Muqdadiya, killing one person and wounding five others, including women.

    A roadside bomb in Kirkuk wounded three policemen. An Iraqi soldier and a child were kidnapped in separate incidents.

    A Sadr organization member was gunned down near his home in Diwaniya.

    In Fallujah, a man threw a grenade at a police patrol. Police arrested him and discovered he was wearing a suicide vest. No one was injured, but Fallujah is now under a vehicle curfew.

    The Iraqi army killed one suspect and arrested 51 others in unspecified locations throughout the country. In Balad Ruz, U.S. forces killed a suspect, believe to be in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

    U.S. and Iraqi troops arrested ten Mahdi army members in Diwaniya. In Muqdadiya, seven gunmen were arrested, two of them might be Saudi nationals. Also, ten suspects were arrested in Mosul. Iraqi and Coalition troops arrested five suspects in the Tigris River Valley.

    No casualties were reported during Turkish shelling in Duhuk province, but local residents were frightened.

    Thursday: 1 GI, 66 Iraqis Killed; 54 Iraqis Wounded


    At least 66 Iraqis were killed and 54 wounded in the latest round of violence. Among the attacks was another controversial incident involving U.S. troops in Sadr City. Also, several bombs were detonated in Baghdad and Kirkuk. And, a GI was killed in a non-combat accident yesterday in Taqqadum.

    In Baghdad, a car bomb killed three and wounded 11 at an Iraqi army checkpoint in Habibiya. A senior judge and his driver were killed in a drive-by shooting in central Baghdad. Near al-Shabb stadium, a roadside bomb killed a police commando and wounded four more policemen and a civilian. In northeast Baghdad, an Iraqi was killed and nine were wounded during another explosion. An IED killed one policeman and wounded a second. Also, seven dumped bodies were found scattered throughout town.

    During a U.S.-Iraqi raid in Sadr City, which included helicopter-based gunfire, an Iraqi soldier was wounded. Besides the soldier, three civilians were killed and seven were wounded during the incident. Eight suspects were detained. A witness claimed that Iraqi soldiers stole money and jewelry from her during a search of her home.

    A mortar barrage in Madaen left two dead and 10 wounded.

    Eight bodies were found al-Ahemar village in Baquba.

    In Kirkuk, a roadside bomb wounded a policeman and damaged his vehicle. Another roadside bomb caused no casualties. Gunmen killed a civilian. An IED wounded an Iraqi soldier. Also, a body was found east of the city.

    Two Iraqi soldiers were wounded during a roadside bombing on a highway between Kirkuk and Riyadh in the village of al-Zera.

    Three bodies, including those of a kidnapped woman and her daughter, were found in Mosul. Also, gunmen killed radio personality, Muhannad Ghanim.

    Gunmen in Hawija killed a former member of the now dissolved Baath party and a day laborer, in a separate incident.

    Near Tuz Khormato, a municipal council member was assassinated.

    A blindfolded body bearing gunshot and torture marks was found in Qara Hanir village.

    In Basra, a senior police official was wounded during an assassination attempt. Also, another Sistani aide was assassinated; one of his guards was injured.

    Two policemen were killed and four were wounded during a twin roadside bomb attack in Saqlawiyah.

    The Iraqi army killed 14 suspects and arrested 33 in unspecified locations throughout the country. U.S. forces killed three suspects in Baghdad and killed seven others elsewhere in Mahmudiya. A suspected al-Qaeda adviser was killed in Tarmiya during a U.S.-Iraqi forces raid.

    In Sulaimaniya, U.S. troops arrested an Iranian delegation member they accuse of transporting roadside bombs. Seventeen suspects were arrested in a joint raid in Kirkuk.

    Friday: 4 GIs, 1 Romanian, 29 Iraqis Killed; 19 Iraqis Wounded


    At least 29 Iraqis were killed or found dead and another 19 were wounded during numerous but small attacks. Also, a Romanian soldier and four GIs were reported killed in separate incidents.

    Yesterday, a Task Force Lightning soldier was killed and another was wounded during an explosion in Diyala province. In Anbar province, a Task Force Lightning soldier died in a non-combat incident. Also, an MNF-W soldier was killed in a non-combat incident in At Ta’mim province. Wednesday, another soldier was killed in a non-combat incident, this one in Balad. A Romanian soldier was killed and five more were wounded during a patrol near their base at Tallil.

    In Baghdad, gunmen killed a Mahdi Army leader in the Washash neighborhood. The assassination was followed by a Mahdi Army attack that left four dead and scores of civilians displaced. Also, eight dumped bodies were recovered, mostly from western neighborhoods.

    A child was killed and three civilians were wounded when Peshmerga troops opened fire on a square in Khalis.

    A roadside bomb in Kirkuk killed a policeman and an Iraqi soldier, while also injuring a civilian. A separate roadside bomb wounded four civilians. Another civilian was wounded during an armed attack in a nearby village. Also, a body was found west of town.

    Three bodies, bearing gunshot and torture marks were found in Yusufiya.

    A farmer was killed and two others were injured during an armed attack in Albu Aziz.

    Three female bodies were found dumped in Basra. Also, gunmen wounded the chief of al-Balda police during an assassination attempt.

    A mortar barrage in Iskandariya left one dead and three wounded.

    In Hawija, three people were wounded after gunmen placed several roadside bombs near the abandoned home of a former police chief.

    A Sistani aide was killed in Diwaniya.

    A body bearing torture wounds was found in Bajwan.

    A Muqdadiya mosque was set ablaze.

    Security concerns forced Muthanna police to impose a curfew.

    Three people were kidnapped in al-Mugaded.

    In Qadissiya, one gunman was killed and another injured during an explosion in a home.

    U.S. troops killed a suspect and detained eight others during operations in central Iraq.

    Also, an estimated 2000 Iraqi refugees are arriving in Syria every day, and five Kurdish rebels were killed near the Iraqi border in Turkey.

    Saturday: 2 GIs, 1 Briton, 54 Iraqis Killed; 31 Iraqis Wounded


    At least 54 Iraqis were killed or found dead and 31 were wounded in the latest violence. An incident involving U.S. troops killing a family in Iskandariya was reported. Also, an attack in Suleiman Bek left a number of civilians wounded. A Briton and two GIs were killed in separate incidents as well.

    A Task Force Lightning soldier was killed in a vehicular accident today in Diyala province. A Task Force Marne soldier was died from non-combat-related injuries yesterday. Also, a British soldier died from injuries received in a forklift accident in Basra.

    U.S. forces stormed a home in Iskandariya. They killed seven members of the same family, including women and children, they believed to be members of a militia, then they demolished the home. Twelve residents were killed in a clash that followed the operation. The U.S. army has yet to comment on the incident.

    The Islamic State in Iraq militia group released a video showing the executions of five Iraqi army soldiers.

    In Baghdad, nine unidentified bodies were found dumped in several neigbhorhoods. A roadside bomb targeting a U.S. patrol in Shula wounded an Iraqi civilian instead. Two civilians in Eskan were wounded by a separate roadside bomb. Dreaded police commandos raided a children's hospital in the al-Iskan neighborhood; they beat up several of the hospital's security personnel, detained two, and caused families to flee the hospital in panic. Also, gunmen burned down three homes in Washash, but no casualties were reported.

    Eleven people were wounded during a roadside bomb attack at a marketplace in Suleiman Bek.

    Eight policemen were wounded and 18 gunmen were detained during an armed attack in Balad Ruz. In a separate incident, a policeman was killed and four more were wounded during an attack on a police checkpoint.

    Four civilians were wounded during a bombing that targeted a police patrol in Baquba.

    In Tal Afar, a bomb-maker was killed and another was wounded when their device exploded prematurely.

    A garbage bag containing a corpse bearing gunshot and torture wounds was found in Kirkuk. The owner of a car parts shop was killed in an armed attack.

    A police officer in Khalis survived an assassination attempt unharmed.

    No casualties were reported after a car bombing near the Iranian consulate in Basra.

    In Hawija, two IEDs produced no casuaties.

    U.S. troops killed seven suspects and arrested 12 more, including what may be a senior al-Qaeda member, in Mussayab. Combined U.S.-Iraqi forces killed ten suspects and arrested 16 during operations in Baquba. Iraqi police and army troops arrested 54 suspects in Mosul.

    Also, 150 families were displaced after clashes in Baghdad's Washash neighborhood earlier this week. On the heels of that event, the Red Crescent released a report estimating that two million Iraqis have moved within the country to avoid violence since the U.S. invasion; the figure does not include another two million who have left the country. The number of refugees into Syria increased recently as the country threatened to clampdown on immigration.

    And, Iran resumed shelling of Iraqi border areas. No casualties were reported.

    Sunday: 1 GI, 48 Iraqis Killed; 32 Iraqis Wounded


    At least 48 Iraqis were killed or found dead and 32 more were wounded in the latest incidents, which included the murder of a journalist in Baghdad. Residents in Baghdad are protesting U.S. presence in Saidiya, while clashes in Jbela left several people dead. Also, an MND-B soldier was killed and another was wounded during an EFP attack in Baghdad yesterday.

    In Baghdad, 10 dumped bodies were recovered. Gunmen assassinated a journalist in al-Qadissiyah. A roadside bomb targeting a convoy carrying a Higher Education minister left two bodyguards dead. No casualties were reported as mortars fell in the Green Zone. Near Shabb stadium and the abandoned UN building, two separate and controlled explosions left no casualties. Also, thousands in Saidiya protested the presence of U.S. troops; they claim that the troops have killed civilians and burned down homes and dislocated over 10,000 families.

    U.S. troops killed ten and detained 22 more suspects in central Iraq. Four suspects, one a possible arms smuggler, were detained in Kut. In Baghdad on Friday, a car-bomb network leader was killed.

    Iraqi troops arrested 15 suspects in Baghdad; eighteen officers and soldiers were wounded during operations. Police arrested 28 suspects, including illegal residents, in Kirkuk. Four suspects were detained in Tikrit.

    In response to the U.S. arrest of an Iranian official, Iran closed an important border crossing servicing the autonomous Kurdish region of Iraq. An Iranian military adviser also admitted that Iran has been shelling targets inside Iraq.

    Monday: 1 GI, 105 Iraqis killed; 118 Iraqis Wounded


    At least 105 Iraqis were killed or found dead and 118 others were wounded in the latest round of attacks. A mass grave was found in al-Abara, while in Baquba a suicide bomber attacked a meeting of local leaders. Kirkuk was the scene of several bombings as well. An American soldier was killed during an armed attack in Salah ad Din province.

    A suicide bomber attacked a gathering of local leaders in Baquba. Preliminary reports say that the chief of police was among the 26 dead; another 50 were wounded.

    A mass grave containing the bodies of 20 students was found in al-Abara.

    In Abu Maria, a suicide truck bomber killed six people, including two policemen and an Iraqi soldier, and wounded 17 others at a checkpoint. The village sits between Mosul and Tal Afar.

    In Baghdad, 12 dumped bodies were recovered. Gunmen attacked a bus carrying bank workers; one woman was killed, another injured. In the Talbiyah neighborhood, mortars killed two children and wounded their parents.

    West of the Mosul, a roadside bomb killed one person and wounded three more. A hand grenade lobbed at police in the al-Saaa neighborhood wounded eight civilians instead.

    In Kirkuk, a car bomb targeting a local leader’s convoy left one bodyguard dead and seven others wounded; ten civilians were also wounded. A separate car bomb wounded six outside a brigadier-general’s home. A guard was wounded during a roadside bombing attack against the police chief’s motorcade. A roadside bomb killed a soldier and wounded three others in al-Ummal al-Shaabiya. A car bomb wounded two civilians and a policeman. The body of a policeman was found last night. Also, police killed an armed man south of the city.

    A roadside bomb in Latifiya killed one soldier and wounded three others.

    Gunmen in Kut killed one person and wounded a second. A Wassit province police chief escaped an assassination attempt, but two of his guards were wounded.

    U.S. forces killed a civilian during operations that netted 13 suspects in Balad Ruz. Militants killed a second civilian.

    Three bodies were found in Hadad.

    Four gunmen were killed as they were setting roadside bombs in Iskandariya.

    Joint U.S. and Iraqi troops killed ten suspects in Muqdadiyah and destroyed a bridge the group was using.

    Iraqi soldiers killed four suspects and freed two hostages at a fake checkpoint the gunmen set up in Jbela.

    Gunmen in Najaf attacked the General Secretary of the National Accordance Group there; he was critically injured.

    In Garma, gunmen set fire to a number of fuel tankers; one driver was killed.

    Gunmen attacked an Ameriyat al-Fallujah police station. The number of casualties was not specified.

    U.S. forces killed 10 suspects and arrested 22 in central Iraq; four of those killed were Iraqis. U.S. troops also killed a suspect and arrested four others in eastern Baghdad. Three other suspects were also detained in a separate operation in the capital.

    Eleven suspects were arrested in connection with the assassination of a prominent Anbar province leader eleven days ago.

    Also, several non-governmental agencies have quit operating in Mosul due to increased threats and violence. Because of this and other difficulties in transportation, humanitarian aid in the city and surrounding regions has decreased.

    Tuesday: 1 GI, 49 Iraqis Killed; 71 Iraqis Wounded


    During continued Ramadan violence, 49 Iraqis were killed or found dead and 71 more were wounded. Also, a Task Force Lightning soldier was killed during an explosion in Diyala province.

    In Baghdad, eight bodies were found, mostly in western neighborhoods. A pair of car bombs killed six and wounded 20 others in the Zayouna district. One person was killed and four were wounded during a roadside bombing in Khamaliya. In Karrada, a roadside bomb wounded seven people. Also, a roadside bomb was detonated near a U.S. patrol in Kadhimiya; U.S. troops sealed off the area.

    A suicide car bomber in Basra killed three and wounded 20 during an attack on a police station.

    In Mosul, a suicide bomber detonated his vest near a police colonel; ten were wounded, including the police officer and a judge.

    A suicide car bomber targeted the head of the Hawija City Council; the chairman, two guards, and a civilian were wounded. This was the fifth assassination attempt on him.

    Three policemen were killed and another wounded during a roadside bombing in the al-Shuhada neighborhood of Fallujah.

    Two more people were reported dead after a suicide bombing yesterday in Baquba. Several prominent men of the province were among the casualties.

    The burnt corpse of a man who had also been shot was found in Kirkuk. A roadside bomb wounded two people. A civilian was injured during a roadside bombing in Wahid Huzairan. Also, gunmen blew up a natural gas pipeline; no casualties were reported, but firefighters are battling a large blaze.

    Near Tuz Khormato, an Iraqi contractor working for U.S. troops was kidnapped. Two men were killed as they were trying to plant a roadside bomb. Also, a Peshmerga commander was killed in front of his Kifri district home.

    Mortars in Riyadh caused damage to a home.

    The Iraqi army killed four suspects and arrested 31 in various locations. Six gunmen were killed during clashes in Tal Afar.

    A bomb targeting a police patrol in Khaldiya left one policeman dead.

    American troops in Tikrit killed three people, including a 90-year-old man, who were relatives of a tribal chief. U.S. forces arrested seven in Baghdad including a man suspected of weapons distribution.

    Iraqi police arrested two Mahdi army members in Diwaniya.

    Joint U.S-Iraqi personnel arrested four suspects in Kirkuk.

    Coalition troops killed five suspects and arrested 22 more in north and central locations. During an operation in Baiji troops captured three suspects but a woman and child were injured during the incident.

    Wednesday: 1 GI, 182 Iraqis Killed; 136 Iraqis Wounded


    Numerous bombings rocked the country today. Overall, at least 182 Iraqis were killed and 136 more were wounded during various attacks. Yesterday, a GI was killed during a small arms attack in the capital. Also, lawmakers are considering imposing travel restrictions in an effort to curb the growing cholera epidemic.

    In Baghdad, a double car bomb killed 32 people and wounded more than 50 in the Bayaa neighborhood. A suicide belt bomber killed a civilian and wounded another. Also, seven unidentified bodies were found dumped in several neighborhoods.

    In Mosul, witnesses reported hearing four explosions during a single hour. In an incident at an unfinished government building, three people were killed and 50 wounded during a suicide bombing. Three people were killed and one soldier was wounded during bombings at army checkpoints east of the city. A civilian was wounded during a bombing in the al-Tahrir neighborhood. Also, police killed a suicide bomber before he could detonate his cargo.

    U.S. troops killed three suspects and arrested two in Mussayab. They also killed three and detained eight more in other cities.

    Iraqi troops killed seven suspects and detained 47 in different locations.

    Combined U.S.-Iraqi forces and police have killed at least 65 more suspects in Muqdadiyah over the last five days. Ten had already been reported.

    Thursday: 40 Iraqis Killed; 21 Wounded


    At least 40 Iraqis were killed and 21 more wounded a day after numerous bombings killed over 100 people. No foreign military deaths were reported, but the Multi-National Corps announced that a Task Force Marne helicopter was forced down by small arms fire; no one was injured during the hard landing.

    In Baghdad, nine dumped bodies were recovered. A car bomb wounded five in Ur. A separate car bomb killed two people and wounded four in the New Baghdad district. A woman was killed in a separate bombing in eastern Baghdad. The bodies of a police lieutenant and his wife were found in Adhamiya. Also, clashes between gunmen and police commandos are taking place in Doura, but casualties are so far unreported.

    Two policemen were killed and three wounded during a roadside bombing in Nasariya.

    Two brothers were killed in Riyadh during a drive-by shooting. A suspected explosive device ruptured an oil pipeline carrying crude to Baiji; the petrol infrastructure has been hit several times recently.

    In Hawija, gunmen killed an off-duty Iraqi soldier. Two civilians were wounded when gunmen opened fire on a car.

    One captive was released in Khalis, while five suspects were detained.

    A blast in Kirkuk killed a policeman and wounded three others.

    Also, despite that the expected increase in violence during Ramadan has occurred, U.S. officials insist on noting that it has been less violent this year than during last year’s holiday; however, violence levels are on par with the previous year’s total.

    The total of US military casualties is officially 27936, and estimated to be between 23000 - 100000.

    The Iraqi casualties have been estimated to be as high as a million, but the sources vary on it. I personally think that about a million is a good guess given the amount that die on a daily basis.

    At least 78 Iraqis were killed and 64 more were wounded during the latest round of violence, which included a U.S. helicopter attack on civilians in al-Saha.     In Baghdad, as many as 13 were killed and 11 were wounded, including women and children, during a U.S. raid in the Doura district; armed groups clashed with a U.S. patrol before helicopters were called in to shell the area.     During the latest incidents, at least 50 Iraqis were killed or found dead and 82 more were wounded. Among the attacks was a car bombing in Christian Hamdaniya and the death of a journalist in Mosul. Also, two American soldiers were killed in separate incidents.

    A Task Force Lightning soldier was killed during combat today in Diyala province, and an MND-B soldier was killed in the capital during a small arms attack.

    In Baghdad, a clash between Iraqi forces and gunmen in Amin square left four wounded civilians. Shelling in Abu Dsheer killed one person and wounded four others. Two people were killed and eight were wounded during bomb attack in the New Baghdad district. Gunmen in Mansour killed one civilian and wounded a second. Also, four dumped bodies were recovered in western neighborhoods.

    A car bomb killed four policemen and wounded 16 civilians in Hamdaniya.

    Six people were killed and 17 wounded during a car bombing near Tal Afar at al-Mazra.

    A significant number of militia suspects and other gunmen were killed in numerous incidents around the country. Overall, 118 Iraqis were killed or found dead and another 19 were wounded. Also, one MND-B soldier was killed and another wounded during combat in Baghdad yesterday.

    In Mosul, 11 dumped bodies were found; they bore gunshot and torture marks. A Ninevah council member and three guards were killed when gunmen sprayed their vehicle with bullets. Gunmen attacked a market, killing two people. Two women and a man were killed in a drive-by shooting. Gunmen killed two policemen in an eastern neighborhood. In Qadsiya, gunmen injured a policeman and a civilian. Also, a roadside bomb wounded two policemen.

    Seven decomposing bodies were found in al-Uhaymer, near Baquba.

    The bodies of three torture victims were found in al-Haswa.

    A gunman attacked a farm south of Baghdad where he killed the farmer and wounded three relatives.

    A roadside bomb in Hawija wounded three policemen. Another bomb injured a single policeman.

    The body of an Iraqi soldier who had been kidnapped yesterday was found in Diwaniya. Also, three Mahdi army members were arrested.

    In Basra, a police official survived an assassination attempt.

    In Baghdad, five bodies were recovered. Also, black smoke and U.S. helicopters were seen in Doura, where reports of 60 armed men also surfaced. A roadside bomb targeting a U.S. patrol in Zayouna resulted in no casualties.

    Ten militia members were killed and eight wounded during clashes in Samarra. A senior al-Qaeda leader was arrested.

    The Iraqi army killed 44 suspects and arrested 52 across Iraq over the last 24 hours. Also, three gunmen were killed as operations were implemented in Diyala province.

    U.S. forces killed another 20 after receiving grenade and small arms gunfire northwest of the capital. Two more suspects were killed and 21 arrested in other U.S. operations; another 15 were detained in Baghdad.

    At least 48 Iraqis were killed and 22 more were wounded in the latest attacks. Security forces killed numerous suspects throughout the country, but civilians were also the targets of violence. Also, four GI deaths were reported.

    Yesterday in the capital, an MND-B soldier was killed and 10 more were wounded when they were attacked during combat operations; also wounded were two Iraqi troops, an interpreter and a civilian. An MND-B soldier was killed during a small arms attack in Baghdad. In Qadissiya province, one soldier was killed and another wounded in a non-combat accident. Also, the DOD reported that a U.S. soldier was killed Thursday in a roadside bomb attack.

    In Muqdadiya, joint forces killed 18 suspects, three of Saudi origin, and arrested 28 others. Also, a child was killed during clashes between police and armed men.

    U.S. forces killed seven suspects and detained 11 in several cities. The Iraqi army arrested 75 suspects. In Samarra, 50 detainees were found not guilty and released.

    After a quick visit with troops in Basra, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown arrived in Baghdad today. Reports of violence unsurprisingly picked up in the capital. Overall, 46 Iraqis were killed or found dead and 49 more were wounded throughout the country. Also, an American soldier was killed in Anbar during combat operation yesterday.

    In Baghdad, nine bodies were found dumped mostly in western neighborhoods. A roadside bomb in Zayouna killed three and wounded two near a passport office. A separate bombing left three dead and five wounded in Muaskar al-Rashid. A roadside bomb targeting a U.S. patrol wounded three civilians in the Shabb neighborhood. One policeman was killed and five were wounded during a bombing in Zaafaraniya. In Karrada, In Karrada, two people were killed and four wounded during another bombing. No casualties were reported during a bombings in Abu Dsheer and Binouk. Also, the Iraqi army raided the al-Mada newspaper office.

    Six people were killed and 10 were injured, mostly women and children during a suicide attack outside a Khalis police station. Also, a bomb at a petrol station failed to cause casualties.

    In Jalawla, a bomb exploded just outside a café and wounded 11 people.

    A roadside bomb in Madaen killed one policeman and wounded five others.

    Shelling in Riyadh left one dead and one wounded.

    On the first day of the school term, gunmen killed a primary school teacher during a drive-by shooting in Suwayra.

    Today’s most significant event left the Polish ambassador wounded and his bodyguard dead in Baghdad. Overall, 60 Iraqis were killed and 56 more were wounded during the latest violence. No foreign military deaths were reported. Also, 13 people were kidnapped in Khalis.

    In Baghdad, a triple bombing targeting the Polish ambassador’s convoy left the envoy wounded while killing a Polish bodyguard and an Iraqi bystander; at least 11 others were injured, including three embassy officials.     The Iraqi army reported killing two suspects and arresting 33 others across Iraq. In central Iraq, U.S. forces killed six suspects and arrested two more. An airstrike from an Apache helicopter killed five suspects in a car.
