I'm going to assume that comment is made out of ignorance (or is a facile attempt at humour) rather than any kind of spite. Resistance has a long history of involvement in and leadership of movements across the board in Australia, and of genuine solidarity with movements in countries across the world.

If you don't like the idea of people recognising the importance of the process in Venezuela, or you think it's funny to try and caricature Resistance in a puerile, cynical and sectarian manner, I suggest you try ChitChat.

I spent some time in Resistance for a while when I was younger. Christ knows I regret it. Good to see Mel's still around though.

I recognise something neat's going on over in Latin America somewhere, but I prefer to focus my attention more squarly on the local area.
