I personally can't stand most reggae. It is utterly repetitive.

Its history is rich with revolutionary ideas and culture, however today it is just another industry gimmick for executives to get rich off of.

It is also loaded with metaphysics, specifically religion and mysticism. This is the kind of stuff that keeps its listeners in a daze of hopelessness.

Bob Marley did some amazing stuff, and I'm a big fan of Jamaican music in general, from ska to dancehall.
But rastafarism.. Emperor worshipping? Fuck That.

I love Reggae and Ska and Dub and all that stuff. Bob was great but Rastafari is a joke. Just another emperor.

I enjoy Bob Marley's music and style quite a bit but I simply can't understand some of the core values of Rastarfarianism primarily the worship of Haile Selassie.

Bob Marley was great as is his son Damian, though I'm definitely not into Rastafarianism.
    You seem neat, but...

They divide us by our color, they divide us by our tongue,
They divide us men and women, they divide us old and young,
But they'll tremble at our voices when they hear these verses sung,

Yeah, Bob Marley was/is a legend,
It's always fun to know that there is a connection with something in some music.

There is now another sub sub sub genre called 3rd wave Ska or Skacore. Which is ska but with a lot more heavy metal or punk influence. Like Leftover Crack. Check them out. They sing about some good shit if you can manage to understand them. If you can't read the lyrics.

I like Bob Marley, Damion Marley, Burning Spear and many others. Not down with the Rastafarianism though.
