Ok guys just a question for you I live in a small rural town in the Uk. The birth place of The Subhumans naturally with these roots and with other punk bands coming from around the area (Far Q, Citizen Fish etc.) there are alot of punks in our town and area.

I've noticed for quite some time that a large preportion of these punks seem to be a little........confused. They seem to wear both Anarchist symbols and swastikas in equal measure on the same jacket/T-shirt etc.

My question is this I know these guys clearly have no concept of what Anarchism is or what it represents, but do the true Anarho punks on this forum feel these guys are just misguided, or is there no reasoning with stupidity. Also how do you feel about the impact these idiots have on the perception of your cause, beliefs and ideals?

they're not anarchist punks they're just punks. Even anarchist punks are dumb, I hate culture ghettos, and associating politics with one single extreme fashion.
"How you cling to your purity, young man! How afraid you are to soil your hands! All right, stay pure! What good will it do? Why did you join us? Purity is an idea for a yogi or a monk. You intellectuals and Bourgeois anarchists use it as a pretext for doing nothing. To do nothing, to remain motionless, arms at your sides, wearing kids gloves. Well, I have dirty hands. Right up to the elbows. I've plunged them in the filth and blood. But what do you hope? Do you think you'll govern innocently?"

thats the problem with most Punk Kids, they simply like the idea of mindless destruction and they like the shock value of the way they dress and the ideas they espouse. Unfortunately they arent in it for longlasting social change, there definitely is a group of punks who are serious about social change, but people just see the swatstikas and lump all of us into one pile. They should be approached and talked to, and if they are just stupid punks without a conscience and make no attempt to change then they should be shot in the name of the revolution

The only other anarchist I know personally is a punk of sorts, but she's extremely intelligent and knows what she's talking about. However the risk is there that people take it up as a kind of conformist rebellion.

But my friend isn't like that, she's very much aware of what happens when people contradict themselves and become hypocrites. Politically she's an anti-capitalist personal anarchist.

I know anarchists, no matter what fashion they abide by. I know hip-hoppers, hippies, preps, punk ect. and they are all comrades.

anarchist punks do piss me off though, because they are the most visible sign of our ranks, partially because of there ridiculous fashion.

they're mostly just a bunch of angsty teens who don't realize that merely pissing off old people isn't really changing anything

(although i do support pissing off old people)
We are going to inherit the earth . There is not the slightest doubt about that. The bourgeoisie may blast and burn its own world before it finally leaves the stage of history. We Are not afraid of ruins. We who ploughed the prairies and built the cities can build again, only better next time. We carry a new world, here in our hearts. That world is growing this minute.

The funniest type of punks are the ones who laugh at goths, as though their personal choice of fashion is somehow less ridiculous than the goth one
People think they have taken quite an extraordinarily bold step forward when they have rid themselves of belief in hereditary monarchy and swear by the democratic republic. In reality, however, the state is nothing but a machine for the oppression of one class by another, and indeed in the democratic republic no less than in the monarchy.

Yeah basically it is for the "shock value". Alot of anarchists I know used to be punks. Through that whole punk association with anarchism they began to actually be interested in politics. My parents listened to alot of punk so I got into that, and when I was younger had never associated music with politics. Then I got into anarchism and when I started to meet people I began to realise how closely linked it is. You'll find more anarchists in the crust scene. But there are alot of anarchist punks out there. If people dress a certain way, and even if it may be just a "scene" thing, it doesn't mean they can't have strong leftist beliefs.

those kids are called posers, they do it either to look cool or get attention. Yea some are probably misguided, but most know what they are doing and usually grow out of it. I know a few of these kids around here, noone that is into politics or is active really takes them seriously, theyre 'fashion punx.'

If they were wearin a swatstika they deserve a beat down though, poser or not.

punk is not a fashion, its a lifestyle. Sure for the posers its a fashion, but real punx dont have to dress up with 12 foot mohawks with six colors and band patches all over them. Being a punk is being a self liberated individual in a society, real punx are people who arent afraid to say 'fuck you!' and do whatever the hell they want, real punx live by no rules but their own. I've heard people say punx are like hippies, just with more attitude and I think thats a fair statement, its more than the music, whether it be that music started the scene, which is controversial, or not, it doesnt matter. It really sets me off when people, especially other leftists, look down on punx or just call them fashion heads or angry teens, when we're not. Real punx are just as serious as any other activist or radical
