48 years ago on this day a man named Che Guevara led his revolutionaries onward and liberated Havanna from the evil Batista regime and won the revolution!

And the progress of Cuba began.

I just find it completely amazing, how the Dominican Republic and Cuba were pretty much the same in 1959, and how socialism has taken Cuba LIGHTYEARS ahead of the capitalist DR, even with the American blockade and all of the aid the USA gives to the DR.

Happy anniversary for Cuba!!!

It is possible to build gigantic factories according to a ready-made Western pattern by bureaucratic command – although, to be sure, at triple the normal cost. But the farther you go, the more the economy runs into the problem of quality, which slips out of the hands of a bureaucracy like a shadow. The Soviet products are as though branded with the gray label of indifference. Under a nationalized economy, quality demands a democracy of producers and consumers, freedom of criticism and initiative – conditions incompatible with a totalitarian regime of fear, lies and flattery.

...my father is from Spain (Basque) so that would make me even closer to the source of Spanish than you.

Basque isn't even a type of Spanish - it's not even part of the same language group (Romance/Indo-Euiropean).

Considering Spanish was the first language I ever spoke and I continue to carry it with me today, maybe you should I dunno...shut the hell up? If you really want to get technical, my father is from Spain (Basque) so that would make me even closer to the source of Spanish than you.
Don't be so proud about Basque being 'closer' to Spanish. Nationalist ideas like that won't make you popular in this forum.
