Many of you may have already seen this, but I thought I'd post it anyway. It discusses the CIA's involvement with Che's death, the disagreement between Castro and Brezhnev over Che's involvement in Bolivia, among other things. Try not to punch the screen in outrage after reading through it.

Thanks for the link Praxis1966.

BTW, did you know that actually Fidel never wanted to become a USSR colony and was all for Che's plan to export revolution to every possible country? Of course, he had to be very carefull not to "offend" pappa Brezhnev and mantain diplomatic ties with the USSR.

Yeah, the letter Castro read which ultimately cinched the split between Che and Fidel was cooked up by the two prior to Che's departure into the Congo (correct me here if I'm wrong). It was designed to give Castro plausible deniability of knowledge of Che's activities both there and in Bolivia in the event the latter was captured. This was done to prevent the alienation of the Soviet Union (Castro probably saw an alliance with the USSR as essential for the reception of foriegn aid) and spurring the U.S. into another invasion attempt.

IMO, you are 100% right. I personally agree with what you say.

Castro proclaims that Che’s life-long struggle against imperialism and his ideals will be the inspiration for future generations of revolutionaries.

I found this part the most true. Che is OUR inspiration!

What is really very touching is the fact that nowadays, in Cuba, at every school, children say every morning "We want to be like Che".

This means SO much, far more than what they actually realize.

I found the whole description of Che's death rather eery. The whole discription of events was so cold and clinical...

That's the CIA for you. I hate what they did with his hands, amputating them so they could get the fingerprints for them. Why did they need to do it? And why hide the body and bury it in secret? The fact that they murdered him in cold blood sends shivers down my spine at what those murderous CIA bastards were capable of.

Chopping off the hands and stashing the body makes it look more like a Mafia hit than professional wetwork...Goes to show how indignant CIA operating standards used to be...
The prolonged barrage engulfed Zero-One in the glow of a thousand suns. But unlike their former masters with their delicate flesh, the machines had little to fear of the bombs' radiation and heat. Thus did Zero-One's troops advance outwards in every direction. And one after another, mankind surrendered its territories. So the leaders of men conceived of their most desperate strategy yet. A final solution: the destruction of the sky.

Why do you think I politely asked everyone not to punch their screens in anger when I initially posted the link?

Ow, Yeah.

Let no one charge that socialists have arrayed class against class in this struggle. That has been done long since in the evolution of capitalist society. One class is small and rich and the other large and poor....One consists of capitalists and the other of workers. These two classes are at war. Every day of peace is at the expense of labor. There can be no peace and good will between these two essentially antagonistic economic classes. - Debs

That's odd, Socialismo. Usually history teachers have a tendency to be conservative, close-minded pricks. It's good to see that some aren't afraid to admit when they're wrong.

Hmmm... Maybe you and your teacher have something of a Frierist pedagogy going there...

What's a "Frierist pedagogy"? A good thing, I hope?

yes and we must note that although it is one thing to want to be like Che it is another to have the obedience to study hard so that we may know exactly what it was that Che as a visionary inspired as victory.

the things i read, and what he sed, goes down deep into my ocean, and it is there i find myself lost yet at the same time experiencing such a rapture of the consciousness, i then want to become violent like the waves and toss the ship of mankind...around...and around...then eventually to safer ground.
