...but why do right-wingers really believe Communists are worse than Nazis? (i.g.http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a63342.htm)...

'cause it's obvious, altough Stalinism is bad... casualties of, and the mere fact that 'fasicsm' by the Stalin regime and Mao's regime are compared with casualties of state 'fascism' made by the Nazi's with absolute figures; with the differance in populations +/- 30:1, is crazy.

Let alone the different motives of the two regimes.

And why did so many ppl were devistated to the point of suicide when Stalin died in 1953?

PS. I am not a Stalinist, just looking at some right-wing websites(rather old ones, but gives a adequate representation of anti-communist crap) .

Maybe because we stand for everything they don't, and want to take away basically what they "work so hard for", because we are too "lazy" to do it ourselves.

When they look at the people who called themselves communists they have a good reason to think commies are worse.

It's not something that's usually mentioned, but for the entire 12 years of the thousand-year-Reich, Germany remained a capitalist country.

Present day capitalist leaders, like George W. Bush for example, want to use the methods of fascism without incurring the "image problem" that declared fascists suffer from.

Thus, what we have in the U.S. is "stealth fascism"...as bad as the old version in practice but without all the master-race and anti-semitic rhetoric.

And the soviet union had a form of socialized capitalism as well.

The powers that be like to pretend that the fight is "democracy vs communism", when in fact it is "capitalism vs communism". You can have democracy in both.

My right-wing math teacher calls Lenin one of the biggest murderers in history.

The cult of personality was a major factor, but hardly the only factor. Many of the social historians of the time period have shown that the average Russian did not suffer too much under the purges. Yes those in the Party were always in danger, but your average Russian farmer of factory worker did fine. Indeed many flourished under Stalin's rule. There is a reason why even after Stalin's death many people looked back fonldy on his reign.

The point that Uhuru brings up is a good one. The average worker 'did well' during Stalin's regime, but let's be serious about where they came from.

Before the revolution the base of industrial workers was pretty slim. Lenin, Stalin, & Co. did well because they had a huge labor base, total control over that base and the money of that base, and could back it up (more in Stalin's day) with violence if neccessary. But even this was a step up for most people after the Czar's rule.

Sorry, I'm rambling, but I can't help but point out bad points about the USSR. I get chills thinking about living there.
