In 1917 Lenin was advised not to try implement communism in a society far from capitalist level
necessary from marxist point of view for communism
still he relied on the huge mass of peasants in order to build what was supposed to be made with workers
    the result was disastruous
he had no choice but to rule with authority
    big mistake!!!

Yes, looking back, things are much clearer.

But, ravengod, imagine yourself as a youth in Petrograd in 1917 with everything going on all around you...strikes, demonstrations, mutinies, etc.

Wouldn't you be at least a little tempted to set theory aside for a moment and join in the fun?

    I would have!

Lenin did realise that he was not following typical Marxist theory. Nonetheless he thought it might be profitable to strike at the 'weakest link' of capitalism (ie. emerging capitalist nations). Besides at least initially he hoped that the revolution would spread across Europe and possibly even the world. Therefore soon Germany, France and many other more industialised countries would join with Russia. He hoped that Berlin, and not Moscow, would become the caital of world-wide communism.

    Very true.

Stalin didnt try to make revolutions elsewhere, he got workers to lay down their arms so the West would go easier on the Soviet Union
give us an organisation or revolutionaries and we will overturn capitalism

First of all Russia of that time was not feudal, but developing capitalist state.
Secondly, Lenin did not violate Marxist theory, but he creatively developed it, he made theory conform to practice, instead of making practice conform to theory. Just like Uhuru na Umoja said, Lenin had said that revolution should start in the weakest link of imperialistic chain during political and economical crises. It is very logical: don’t you think that it is much easier to overthrow weak capitalistic government, than trying to overthrow the strongest one?
Although Lenin hoped that October would fire the whole Europe with revolutionary flame, he still believed in the victory of socialism in Russia.
Lenin introduced NEP, which was the transitional period between capitalism and socialism. The task of NEP was to develop economy to such extent, which would create conditions for the final establishment of socialism. This practice proved that despite its pre-revolutionary capitalistic level of development any state can and must achieve socialism.

Quote from nz revolution:” Stalin didnt try to make revolutions elsewhere”

Lenin also didn’t try to “make revolutions” in Europe. Sorry, I’ve just killed your point.
