To London and Manchester in January 1869...try and convince Marx and Engels and as many reliable comrades available that it's IMPERATIVE for them to be in Paris in 1871 for the Commune. Marx understood that the Communards needed to seize the Central Bank of France (they didn't) and Engels understood that the Communards needed to march on Versailles and disperse the bourgeois government (they didn't).
Given a successful proletarian revolution in France in 1871...and things would be a LOT different.

I would go back to the shift from hunter-gatherer culture to the first agriculturally-based monarchy. As Daniel Quinn calls it, the shift from the Leaver to the Taker culture.

Great questions. I would want to go back to Ancient Greece and observe how society operated. How about the years of Che Guevara's childhood and witness his odd behaviour and his remarkable stories that captivated and enthralled his friends and scared to death his family. I have always been interested in the boy Che was and it would be fascinating to see how he acted and what he got up to.
How about during the time of Jesus Christ and be inspired by his preachings and the life he led? So many more like the early years of the Cuban revolution and listening to Fidel speak on the balcony in front of thousands. Watching great players such as Pele and Maradonna showcasing their soccer skills. Going back in time would be great!

yea that would have been nice, it would have also been cool to live during the french revolution or during the russian revolution (but id like to have died before stalin came around) or also during the 60s/70s or maybe even in the future when socialism will be closer.

I hate to be a party-pooper, but there were PLENTY of contemporaries of those people you mentioned who wanted to kill them. Simply being a time-traveler doesn't seem to put one in a much better position to kill someone like Hitler or Stalin, lots of people at the time wanted to do this but couldn't.
