Wouldn't downloading books entail someone having to type the entire book out so it could be downloaded electronically? I mean, if there's another way let me know... I could just be having a blonde moment..![]()
Plus there's copyright laws about text being reproduced in any form , for any reason without the publishers concent. Not to mention the P2P programs (er, atleast with regards to music) is kind of illegal in some countries :P
Yes, someone would have to type up the book, but in the case of anything printed in any form after like 1995 all that would entail is copying and pasting. Publishers put out their books electronically a lot now, they're called eBooks. Duh. As for sites, I dunno, just Googling "[insert book title here]+ebook" should probably do it.
try looking for them on torrent networks, or Project Gutenburg.
Books like 'A tale of two cites'' which was written 150 years ago are available online. It doesn't matter how old a book is now it can be put online with text reading technology. Anything over 50 years old in the UK has no restriction on sharing (75 years in US) and usually books that old are put online for free. Have you tried just using say limewire and searching 'documents' although a specific p2p book site is likely needed here and I don't know if such a thing exists. I sympathise as some books I would like thesedays are out of my financial league.

Try LimeWire (P2P sharing). The "population" that uses that particular program seems to have move ebooks than most others, i've found quite a lot of interesting stuff there.
demonoid has audiobooks, but on the more legal side there is project gutenberg and librivox.
google them.
