latley i explored the biggest peasant rebellion in china, and probably in thw whole world. the Tai Ping rebellion was led by Hung Hsiu-Ch'ung. he created some weird religion which was a mix of christianity, ancient chinese religious ideas and traditional chinese egalitarianism. he formed the "God Worshippers society" which was the backbone of the Taiping Movement. the rebellion started in southwest china in 1,851. the Taiping allied with other groups. in 1,853 the formed in the areas they conqured the "Tai Ping heavenly kingdom". the movement lated passed this law:"all lands under heaven shall be farmed jointly by the people under heaven....land shall be farmed by all; rice, eaten by all; clothes, worn by all; money spent by all. there shall be no inequality, and no person shall be without food or fuel. no matter whether man or women, everyone over sixteen years shall receive land." they also outlawed prostitution, women trade and slavery. many women had an important role in the rebellion. the rebellion was crushed in 1,864.

I believe that was the rebellion which ended when the Manchus (or another army) slaughtered 100 000 of the peasants and threw them in a river, making it overflow.

It's probably too much to ask: but wouldn't it be GREAT if all Maoists had to study these events in Chinese history and discover the class realities behind the Chinese "Communist" Party and its Great Helmsman??
