i read that between 1,960-1,965 forces that fought against the batista regime organized a rebellion against castro in the escambray mountains. i tried to search for information about it, but i only found right wing cuban exiles anticommunist sources, all of them praised those rebels but never gave information about the number of the rebels, how many people were killed by both sides and stuff like that. i wonder if those rebels were really just people that fought batista and got disappointed by castro, and if there were not batistaists among them. so does anyone can give me a less biased source about these event?

interesting book, it's already on my reading list. after reading this i understand why anyone will go against him, but i need to know more details about his rebellion. can you tell me where you read that the rebellion was funded by the CIA? and how many people took part in that rebellion? how many people got killed(from both sides)? there were any other anti castro guerilla movements inside cuba? and i saw on a map that the escambray mountains are very close to beach. why did america send their troops to the bay of pigs instead of the escambray mountains?

just one more question: most of the rebels were not former batistaists, right? because if they weren't former supporters of batista, then i think i know why kennedy didn't send his troops to the escambray mountains: the rebels there were probably not such fonds of the americans because america supported batista(i know the rebellion was backed by the CIA, but so does the pol pot after the vietnemise army overthrown him and he was not a fond of the americans), and mos of the exiles that took part in the bay of pigs were batistaists, so if the invadors from the bay of pgis were near the escambray rebels, the rebels wouldn't like them so much.
and another question: how many members did the july 26 movement had? and how many members did the revolutionary students director directorate had and where did they operate?
