I have to write an essay on WW2 for uni and I've hit a bit of a hurdle. I want to include info about Holland as they were very close to the action. Can anyone help me out wih info on their treatment of jews, etc. Or maybe recommend a text on this topic?

    Thanks heaps.

they did persecute jews and were rapidly taken over via blitzkrieg and so really just waited for the allies to liberate them. They lost 10,000 military casualties and 190,000 civilian ones, also, May 15, 1940 - Holland surrenders to the Nazis.

They had very strong nazi party there, and many Waffen SS units were raised there. But probably majority of population anti-nazi views.

The German army isolated them from the Belgians, French and British so they were completley surrounded very early on. They ended up surrendering in 5 days

Yeah, they didn't do too well. I read that Hitler got shitty with their uprisings and such, that he toyed with the idea of deporting the ENTIRE population of Holland to Poland.

I can tell you there was A LOT of heavy intense fighting going on during WWII in Holland. My grandfather was posted there and he was right on the front lines. At one point in fact a Nazi had a knife to his throat. But my grandfather said many of the Dutch were the nicest people he ever met and were very open to the Canadian soldiers. He went back every two or three years to visit in fact. I think Holland was like many of the countries during WWII. There were anti-semetic aspects as well as non-discriminatory aspects and people.
