I've been looking for some info about the Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia, and their efforts to overthrow the Kymer Rouge (obviously a good idea). But because of the whole US-Vietnam war, the western historical websites are reluctant to address the act in detail because it would make a past enemy look good.
So, can I get some info please?

I to have failed to find any pacific website on that war. Although I will tell you some basic stuff and backgrond to it. Basically it goes back to 1970 when the US and SVA (South Vietnam Army) invaded Cambodia which was ruled by a right wing monarchy. The excuse (well they were fighting a war so don't be to harsh) was that Cambodia was being used as a hideout for the VC and a place for the NVA to get supplies.

So for the next few years the VC/NVA is forced to ally with the KR. I say 'forced' but this is probably a bit wrong, since the VC probably viewed the KR as fellow revolutionaries, although with some bizare rhetoric. For example the KR national anthem is something really sick.

So in 1975 the VC/NVA reunited Vietnam and the KR take over Cambodia which has been in chaos because various CIA backed Kings fight (not in the traditional sense merlely blackmail and murder) eachother. Then Pol Pot gradually reveals his true colours, both in his internal policies and international policies. He begins to force people to leave the cities and declares 'Year Zero' and steps up the Rhectoric against Vietnam.

It is now around 1976/77 and Mao has died and the Chinese have a new government made out of people who are Capatalists in all but name. Ofcourse the new Chinese have a certain rivalry with the Soviets (going back to the mid 1960's) and have been the traditional enemy's of the Vietnamese (see what I mean, this is really petty by the PRC leadership who were and are nothing more than a bunch of nationalists and bueracrates). So the Soviets and PRC who had both supplied the VC now begin to back Vietnam and the KR respectively.

Sensing a chance to hurt the Soviets even more the CIA in Washington also begins to send aid to Pol Pot namely in terms of 200 surplus aircraft and money. While the PRC keeps the KR just afloat from collapsing in on itself. This relationship/agreement may sound odd but the U$A and PRC had been in eachothers pockets for quite a while, using the logic my enemy's enemy is my friend, and the U$A will do anything to wind up Vietnam.

So by 1979 it is quite obvious that Pol Pot is a mad man. Vietnam see's all this going on right across the border and decides to do something, at first it begins with aiding anti KR guerrilla's but these guerrilla's suffer because they are usually having to fight the PLA is well. In response Pol Pot, having allready slaughtered millions begin's to target ethnic Vietnamese, it get's to stage when even KR trucks are passing the border and slaughtering whole villages (that's from a western source). In August (I think) the NVA passes the border, and within weeks has taken all the cities and major rural areas while Pol Pot is running for the hillls. Continuing a guerrilla fight right up till 1997.

The PRC is not very happy about this, how dare those mere Vietamese who were once merely slaves to the Emperor behave in such a manner. So way up to the North of Vietnam the PLA begins to mobilise. The Soviet's seeing that a vital ally may be lost begin to supply the NVA with the latest military stuff. The U$ is also pretty pissed of with this and together with the UN slaps 10 years worth of sanctions on Vietnam and supplies the KR with money and weapons again.

In November the PLA invades Vietnam. Well it attempts to invade Vietnam, in 3 weeks of fighting the PLA takes atleast 60,000 dead. The NVA experienced, well trained and armed with the latest tech (this was the first war to involve laser sighted rifles, or some other weird gun) manages to hold the PLA about 10 miles across the border. After a few weeks of fighting the PRC leadership seeing that they have basically humiliated themselves, withdraws. But actually just's begin to actively aid what is left of the KR and for the next ten years Vietnam has to deal with international sanctions (although they get plenty of Soviet grain) and a vicious guerrilla war financed by the CIA and PRC.

Minor note, a reason why the PRC leadership decided to withdraw may of been the fear of mutiny amongst their own troops. Who rightly saw it as nothing more than a Imperialist adventure. Just like with the Americans there were cases of 'fragging' to the officers. Anyway hope that helps you out.

''That morning, my father took my hand and we went out. I saw how upset all the Algerians looked and how the French were rejoicing. I asked my father what had happened. He gravely replied: 'Stalin is dead...' I asked who Stalin was. My father said: 'He was the greatest man of our time. He was the leader of the Soviet Union, the greatest revolutionary country. Stalin was the son of a cobbler.' And I thought the son of a cobbler, someone like me...' Algerian Revolutionary in fight against French Imperialism.

The World Revolution is ongoing history. Even if you win the war, which I don’t think you will, the World Revolution will not and cannot be stooped by military means, Your very powerful army can do much harm to us, can kill many of our people - but it cannot kill ideas! Its movement might seem dormant to you at the moment, but it s there and will come to the fore again out of the awakening of the poor, the downtrodden orginary people the world over in Africa, the Americas, in Asia and Europe too. People in their masses will one day understand that it is the power of capital over them which not only oppresses and robs them, but stifles their human potential, which either uses or discards them as mere pawns to make monetary profit out of the,. Once the people grasp that idea, it will mature into an almost material force in popular uprisings like spreading wildfires and will do what has to be done in the name of humanity. It will not be Russia who will do it for them, although the Russian working people were the first who have borken the chains. The people of the will do it for themselves in their own countries, against their own oppressors, in their own ways and in their own time!’
