it's from turkish leader mustafa kemal. maybe the reason that turks are so nationalist because mustafa kemal was nationalist and he saved the country from a greek invasion so they feel like they owe him?

Who exactly are the Kurds? What is different about them, religiously, culturally, historically...etc from the rest of the middle east, Asia Minor, and Persia? (Iran)

the kurds, originally a nomadic tribe settled in the area thousands of years ago before turkey, iraq was even in existence. with a population estimated at the size of Britain they are the largest group of people in the world without a nation.

North kurdistan (South turkey) is very rich indeed in minerals and in agricultural land and indeed most of turkeys produce comes from this area accounting for a huge slice of turkeys downtroden economy.

years of propaganda has instilled a hatred of kurds by most turks because the kurds want independance and a turkey without kurdistan is a very weak turkey.

turkey bears the usual hallmarks of an oppresive regime, eg. banning the language torture of civilians ethnic cleansing etc...

religiously we are muslim although not as strict as other arab nations, the religion itself was impossed on us by arab invaders many years ago.

culurally we are very similar to greeceand and to a lesser extent some arab nations with similar foods and traditions etc.

historically again very similar to the other countries in the region. kurdistan is home to one of the oldest remaining cities in the world and the muslim leader Saladin who defeated richard the lionheart in the crusades was kurdish.
