who saw the programme today about religious end days theories (only the christian ones though). Two of my friends one christian , one muslim both believe these sorts of theories.

the problem is that i can't really disagree that the end is looking near, (although not due to any devine plan). The point is that capitalism is the last class society either we will advance to communism or the world or civilization at the least will be destroyed.

I think the growth in these religious views of apocalypse are a distorted reflection of a fundamental truth. It also is a symptom of decadent society, these theories have been symptomatic of decadent societys in the past. This is for the simple reason that people could see no future in the society they were living in. As well as the fact that see complete chaos around them and think that it can't carry on.
In its famous paradox, the equation of money and excrement, psychoanalysis becomes the first science to state what common sense and the poets have long known - that the essence of money is in its absolute worthlessness.

If it is in fact a distortion of a fundamental truth, then this "fundamental truth" is probably that the world as we know it is going to end, not the world itself. Read on...

It also is a symptom of decadent society, these theories have been symptomatic of decadent societys in the past.
Exactly. They have been symptom of decadent societies in the past, like the monarchies and aristocracies, just before these forms of government collapsed and capitalism was brought in, and everyone was happy again. However, now we are once again seeing symptoms of a decadent sociey, and these "end days" theories springing up again. I for one actually hope what you say is true, that they are just a distortion of a fundamental truth, and the end of days of capitalism's destructive rule is drwaing near.

This is for the simple reason that people could see no future in the society they were living in.
I would agree that society has a very limited future under capitalism. Time for a change.

Pardon me, but I still believe that it's possible that capitalism will destroy this world as long as no new order takes controle and bans capitalism . In one century politics succeeded at making a world in which one person can destroy it several times. This world is nuts!

    Do I love history!

I totally agree. Time is not running, it's running out.

"It is illogical and incorrect to reduce everything to the economic [socialist] revolution, for the question is: how to eliminate [political] oppression? It cannot be eliminated without an economic revolution... But to limit ourselves to this is to lapse into absurd and wretched ... Economism." - Lenin

"[During a revolution, bourgeois democratic] demands [of the working class] ... push so hard on the outer limits of capital's rule that they appear likewise as forms of transition to a proletarian dictatorship." - Luxemburg

“Well, then go forward, Tower of Bebel! [August] Bebel is one of the most brilliant representatives of scientific international socialism. His writings, speeches and works make up a great tower, a strong arsenal, from which the working class should take their weapons. We cannot recommend it enough… And if the [International] deserves to be named Tower of Bebel... well, then we are lucky to have such a Tower of Bebel with us.” - Vooruit

I think the choice is the same as the famous quote from Rosa Luxemburg said: Socialism or barbarism.

It's not enough to expect that people will prefer the former, we have to fight for it in all ways we can.

Various religious groups have predicted the "Rapture" and all of them have been wrong. What makes any others different?

i didn't say that these were right, but that they reflected a distorted truth. I don't see why it was moved but whatever.

i think however that as Raccoon said the threat of capitalism bringing about the end of the world if it is not overthrown is very real.
