Colin Powell. . . My Lai? I don't think so. There was no real coverup--several soldiers in the company who didn't partake in the slaughter reported the incident and people later admitted to doing it. The Commanding officer was the only one held responsible, but his punishment was minimal considering his crime.

Powell My Lai-I have to agree to disagree.

LT. Calley(sp) was the ranking officer and was court marshalled there after.I think he was later pardoned by nixon.

That type of shit happens in all wars...

Consortiumnews.com has a very long, and very good, investigative piece about Colin Powell. Here's the section that deals with My Lai.

Economists have provided capitalists with a comforting concept called the "free market." It does not describe any part of reality, at any place or time. It's a mantra conveniently invoked when it is proposed that government do something the faithful don't like, and just as conveniently ignored whenever they want government to do something for them.

I dont know exactly what the Marxist line is, but this is my opinion on it. It was an evil incident, but not an isolated one. It was typical of the whole war. The vietnem war is one of the few examples of a clea-cut war. By "clean cut" I mean that it is obvious that it was quite simply wrong. I cant think of one good reason, no altneritive arguements to this.
