The moment Columbus reached or rediscovered the West Indies
it was like putting a sale stake on each island. Ever since Spain, France, and the U.S. have commited ecological crimes and have murdered many in thier strive to better. Hitler may have killed 6 million jews but what about 21 million indians the spanish killed in the early 1500s. after the spaniards arrived in South america, the native population dropped from almost 30 million to about 1 million in only aobut a century. Think of that.

the spanish were a big part in killing off the carib and arawak indians, but also the dutch, brittish, and french were very involved in the slaughter of the natives in the caribbean....

just look at imperialism's influence in the caribbean... take trinidad for example, originally a spanish colony, which was battle for continually but eventually fell into brittish hands.... the native arawaks, were all thrown into a mixing pot with the african slaves, indentured east indian labourers, spanish slaveowners and immigrants, as well as chinese labourers..... they were all brought there to make the imperialists richer, while they remain to this day poor, i am from st lucia and the history of the islands are similar in terms of exploitation....

the caribbean was a major part of the economical boom which benefited england, france and spain... spain was weakened in the caribbean due to piratism on fleets coming from mexico filled with silver which sailed thru jamacian waters... as well as wars the spainsh were fighting at home against the french and didnt have the money to continually send fleets when they needed them at home...
