I do live in a quarter where a lot of Gipsies do live. I see them every day and I've been thinking about them for a long time.
During Hitler's regime Gipsies were also persecuted and killed, sent to concentration camps. According to the information I have at least 5% of all the Gipsies were murdered. This number is not very small... But why people aren't talking about them? Why have they forgot about it? Why they haven't asked for justice and apologies? Or have they?

becuase they are too busy talking about the jews during the holocaust, not the others. I am not anti semetic, but i am sure people here agree wiht me on this.
i think the jews had the most deaths occur during the holocaust. and since they are the highly numbered, many seem to forget about all the other amounts of deaths that occured.its a shame none the less, but what is there to do about it, none of it was right.

Pa, are you talking about the Travelling communities in Ireland? If so, they aren't the same as gypsies (or Roma as they're also known).

The other question that came to my mind about Gipsies is that what would they do in the communist society. In Estonia I've NEVER seen a Gipsy working, I've asked from a lot of people I know and the answer is also the same - NEVER. How would they survive and what would be their function if communism came?

The Roma did ask for redress, but were given only limited reparations and apologies, for reasons that have a basis in the long-standing prejudice against them. No doubt their impoverishment and oral rather than written tradition works against them. People who can write have the ability to make their voices heard over a longer time and larger area, and thus illiteracy has been a bane to the Romani.

Seriously though, there are several reasons why the Jewish Holocaust is more publicised than the gypsy, homosexual, dissident etc murders, and they're all pretty self-explanatory. If you don't know, then you really shouldn't be discussing Second World War history.

Hmm...partly. Maybe it's also cos the Jews are a race, and were victims of a genocide. Don't get me wrong, I have just as much respect for homosexuals and gypsies, but I'm sick (fucking sick) of all the anti-semitism I hear. I don't see Jews as a race. I see it as a people with a distinct culture and religion, but the Jews of Europe were just citizens of the countries they lived in and whose ancestors converted to Judaism. The Torah says the first Jews were black, so I guess the "Jewish race" doesn't include Europeans. I'm not anti-semitic, just stating what I believe.
If you will consider Jews as a race, then gypies will have the upper hand, when they weren't originally from Europe, but India thousands of years ago (And didn't convert to "gypsyism," lol)...so there goes your arguement.
