I was searching the old History threads (where I found these lovely pictures) and I was wondering, What the Hell is Peuro Rico? A country? A colony? A wierd mix of the two like Canada pre Westminister?
It's a Colony of the United States, that weapons are tested on. But I'm biased.

Beautifel, looks like pictures from a holidayguide.
Let no one charge that socialists have arrayed class against class in this struggle. That has been done long since in the evolution of capitalist society. One class is small and rich and the other large and poor....One consists of capitalists and the other of workers. These two classes are at war. Every day of peace is at the expense of labor. There can be no peace and good will between these two essentially antagonistic economic classes. - Debs
Puerto Rico looks like a beautiful country. Those are very nice photos especially the one of Miss Puerto Rico

The problem is it is not a country, just a colony.
Let me rephrase then "it looks like a beautiful place."

Thank you everyone for the Peurto Rico = colony. Most Americans I ask don't know what it is. Merci beacoup![]()
Puerto Rico is a colony of the United States since the Treaty of Paris that ended the Spanish-American war of 1898. It was taken by the USA from Spain along with Cuba and the Philippines....and Puerto Rico is the only one left under the control of the USA to date. In the USA, it's officially recognized as an unincorporated territory or "Commonwealth." In Puerto Rico, it's called "Estado Libre Asociado," or a "Free Associated State," since July 25th, 1952. (The anniversary of the USA invasion of PR and the most infamous murders in PR history against 2 pro-independence teenagers in 1978.) For the first 54 years of USA rule, the USA imposed an Americanization campaign on the island and installed Caucasion-American Governors on the island, which stomped on any freedoms. In 1948, we were allowed to elect a Governor, which Luis Muñoz Marín of the Popular Democratic Party won and stood in power for 16 years. He installed "Operation Boostrap," a kind of a spin-off of FDR's policies, to lift poverty in PR. It pretty much worked, (Even if the Governor was an elected Dictator.) but was destroyed under the regimes of pro-statehood and pro-elite Governors and now Puerto Rico is docile and more dependent on the USA than ever before.
Sorry I put you guys to sleep, I discuss PR too much on this forum, lol. Here are some more pictures: I'm thinking of doing another collage of PR pictures again as well, lol.
