On a hot July night, a few dozen Somali men were kneeling shoulder to shoulder in prayer at a storefront mosque here when the door opened and the frozen head of a pig, an animal considered unclean in Islam, rolled across the floor.
Men fled in fear. A child fainted. Some called the police and ran after the person who had rolled the head in. A suspect, Brent Matthews, was quickly apprehended and charged with desecrating a place of worship. Mr. Matthews, 33, said that the incident was a prank and that he did not know the significance of a pig’s head.

That's really stupid on that guy's part. How disrespectful. But as ridiculous as that "prank" was, it was a product of ignorance. Not everyone understands Islam, this is prime evidence of why its important for people to be informed and educated instead of pullin this dicklock. Like the muslim guy said, "it couldve been a cow's head or a goat's head, but it was a pig's head," and it would have probably alleviated alot of stress on both parties (Mr. Matthews and the Mosque) if people just took the time to understand Islam.

Wow, Islam's fucking stupid. But there are better ways of attacking their ridiculous superstitions. At least the guy tried- I suppose it was more dramatic than throwing a copy of Origin of Species at them.

In my personal oppinion, the biggest form of abuse in that childs life is probably the religious brainwashing. I have no problem with offending religious people, the fact that they are offended by the presance of a dead pig does nothing but amuse me. They chose to adopt this absolutely absurt bullshit, so it's their problem. There's no reason to be offended by pork, but they are anyway. Boohoo. But as I said, insulting religion, is clearly not the best way to combat it, this incident certainly won't shake their faith. So, im pretty indifferent.

I don't think it's a question of religious beliefs it's whether you think it's somehow justifiable to traumatise children with severed animal heads

I'm all for having pork and bacon barbeques outside Mosques and Synagougues, but throwing severed animal heads at children is not going to accomplish anything positive.

The key to turning people away from ignorant superstitions and customs isn't to attack them. That only puts them on the defensive. You need to understand the origins of whatever practice and what social function it fulfills and address that. Cultural relativism, dudes. <_<
