Truthfully, I don't think so. I doubt anybody would actually care. For to have open imperalism you must have stronger brainwashing. By hiding it behind closed doors the US makes us more intelligent, we have to look for it. Bush and Co. hasn't read 1984 obviously. They hasn't stolen any ideas from it, yet.
If it was a colonial-type power, I imagine we would rebel, but average Americans would probably just have enourmous pride in their "glorious empire of freedom", much like now, except they'd openly say it's a empire, whereas now, they deny it.
I'd also like to add that their is nothing formal about colonialism, it's the most barbaric appropriation of land and greed.
When I say formal I mean like, open, as in General Franks going to Baghdad and saying "I claim Iraq for the empire of the United States of America."

I think it would be worse. As soon as they start admitting what they are doing then we better watch the fuck out because all that means is that they are so powerful that they don't have to lie, no one would be able to oppose them anyway.
But, our numbers would swell becasue all of our ranting would have been proved true. Any time one side of the political has a huge amount of power, the other side (us) gains recurits as people look to more radical solutions.

Our numbers would swell in more idealoical settings...such as Europe and S. America. In the USA however, the public and former liberal media has made it quite clear...."we don't care what dubya does to those primitaves...they blew up the world trade centre dude!" It hasn't been this bad in the US since Ronnie convinced the US populace that a trillion dollar deficit and 30% unemployment (not actual figures, but quite close) is okay as long as you're patriotic!

I'd be just as opposed to it, but a great deal of the actual anger in me comes from listening to hypocrisy and distortion which prevents opposition.
I dont believe that the majority of americans would support imperialism. I believe that they genuinely dont see it. They are fed a relentless diet of distortion and unsurprisingly buy it.
This is in part what makes me angry. It is frustration at seeing the very people best placed to reject the situation conned into out and out support of it.
When I die I want to go to heaven, whether there is one or not.
I understand that god judges intentions and it is my intention to convert 5 secs before I die. Hopefully this insurance policy is valid in all states.
