LIVE AND LET LIVE D.I.Y. FEST

Friday, Saturday and Sunday - December 1/2/3 2006 - BRISBANE

W.T.F??
The live and let diy fest will be a convergence/supernova/festival in brisbane over the weekend of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd December at ahimsa house community centre, West End. This will be 3 days of workshops, stalls, bands, performances, screenings, actions and any/every expression in between.

RATTLE THAT CAGE
Kickstart all projects, throw something together, make it happen. At this early nebulous point we are after basic expressions of interest in participating from anyone at all. What we are particularly interested in is anyone who wants to perform, run a workshop, help in the vegan kitchen, contribute artwork, run stalls/table, tell stories, run a screening, play music or provide input no matter how crazy, impractical, or bizarre.

MISSIONS + VISIONS
Although some music/performances/screenings will be organised by the collective, the rest is as much up to you as it is up to us. We are obviously wishing for all our friends to come up north and visit, as much as we simply want to catch up with all you special ones, we are not-so-secretly hoping that all the folks on this list and beyond will contribute to this vision in some way, more than simply attending.

This is a project that will include many of the extended circle of friends that we know as the DIY community, that is anyone who is doing what they want to not for profit, but borne of passion and as a vital way of surviving in this insane world. Hopefully the circles will overlap to bring in as many kindred spirits as possible. This will be, like everything else, what we make it. By examining what we have and how we live we can critique this society and system that we have found ourselves in, discussing theories and techniques for questioning, analyzing, and retaliating, and continue discovering and fighting for what we believe.

FUEL 4 THE FIRE
Bring your ideas, your flashlight, your sleeping bags/tent/trangia, bring the rukus, your dreams, nightmares, zines and instruments/ implements of destruction, your dancing shoes, shit-stirring devices, your spraycans, your notebooks, your ghetto blasters, your crowbars, puppets, your open mind, cameras/video cameras, your voicebox, your peepS/crew/comrades, your inspiration and positive energy, vast amounts of enthusiasm, imagination and insight.
Not required: cynicism, lots of $, negativity, elitism, squares, pigs, jocks.

COMMUNITY BUILDING IN ACTION - DON'T BE A STRANGER!
Stay tuned to find out about our website, link up with us and let us know if you want to be a part of it. This is about dismantling the structures keeping us down and reassembling them in new ways, organizing + recognizing our networks, holding onto each other and keeping it tight. Ambitious? Yes, so what? Its time again to start tearing every fucking thing to pieces, learning and unlearning as much as possible within our (un)limited timespan, wilding out, and continuing on the trajectory set by the magical experiences from festivals, shows, and everyday life in our communities and hopefully setting off a few new ones leaving trails of sparks..

THIS IS A TAKEOVER NOT A MAKEOVER

It would be good to get some (A)'s to volunteer to do a bit of security. Nazis are starting to turn up to punk gigs and stuff.

Anyway, this is local for me. See you all there.

Aslong as we have numbers the nazis should stay away.

If anyone wants somewhere to crash let me know. I have a spare room only around 1km (5-10 minute bike ride) from Ahimsa. I'm putting a show on there in a fortnight to raise cash for g20.

OMG I am sooo fucken embarrassed atm. I managed to get to the gig last night even though I almost lost my job over it, met a few super staunch party animals also, major fuck up though and my apologies.... my dad tagged along!!! how embarrassing

so I want to formally apologise for anyone that was subjected to the following

A) Back in my day........ stories
B) So when are we going to sacrifice the goat..... and other bad one liners
C) Anyone that had to witness his 'dancing'

I almost died, but at least he lied for me at work and I managed to get a few hours away, but seriously dad bonding time is best left away from gigs.

So yeah if you spotted the old fart dressed like he was going to give Sid vicious a tickle with leather, then you saw him. Imagine crossing anarcho punk with what you see at a retirement village and you have it!

If you noticed someone up the back almost in tears (a wave of emotions, ranging from laughter to plain despair) then you noticed me.

Hope to see you all Sunday, no dad's allowed!
