Hi, all anarchists in Brisbane, Australia!
Around a dozen people, mostly involved in the local punk scene, have decided that it's time to put words into action and start an anarchist group. Among the issues we are taking on are-
~the use of Brisbane Port by the US Navy.
~the presense of arms manufactors working for the UN Army and Australian Defence Force in Brisbane.
~the attacks by the Brisbane City Council on the city homeless.
~the increased fascist activity locally.
~the destrcution of the environment by local companies.
~police brutality.
~the Federal government's attacks on worker's rights.
So far everything is still in the air, and we are having a meeting to swap ideas. Some of us will be meeting at the World Refugee Day rally at 11am, on Saturday the 24th of June at Queen's Park (near the Treasury Casino- corner George/Elizabeth Streets), and afterwards we are holding the meeting at Ahimsa House (26 Horan St. West End, opposite West End State School) at 12:30pm.
All interested activists are welcome to come along.
Phone Tom 0406 061 583 for updates or email me at [email protected]
Keep in mind that this is not 100% concrete yet. I'll post any changes here.

I obviously will not be making it.
But I have this http://brisbaneanarchy.org/ and this http://www.takver.com/history/meetings/c2003bris.htm to share. Enjoy.

I'm in contact with the BASTARDs... they are nice people, but do little aside from film screenings, books stalls and public lectures. And that Anarchist Conference wasn't that great!
In any case, just to report on what happened- we met at the refugee rally, where the Bolsheviks did their best to recruit some of us. We headed over to Ahimsa House, but tragically the people we were going to meet there didn't show up, so we went to The Forest cafe for some food. At the Forest, we bumped into another anarcho-primitivist comrade who we hadn't been able to contact earlier, and got the anarcho-punk woman at the counter interested in linking up with us. We iscussed the various aims of the group and there is general agreement on the aims thus far proposed, as well as establishing some sort of program to educate the community on police violence, which this city is very good at covering over. We have decided to call our selves Direct Action. After all was said an done, we had some drinks and agreed to meet at the worker's rally against IR laws on Wednesday.
Later, I went to a punk gig where I met a comrade who had been active in the now defunct Class War movement up in Pauline Hanson country and Sydney. He is very interested and will get in touch. With his experiences in Class War, we shall be able to jump ahead a few steps and find out the best tactics in waging a revolutionary struggle against the bouregeoisie.
I turned up early and decided to take a nap in king george square and woke up 4 hours later.
