A Senegalese student was fatally shot in the neck early Friday outside a St. Petersburg club with a gun bearing a Nazi symbol.
The slaying of Lamzar Samba, 28, a fifth-year St. Petersburg Communications University student, at around 5:30 a.m. outside the Apollo nightclub, suggests a new era of racially motivated violence has dawned, said Desire Deffo, deputy head of the African Unity group in St. Petersburg.
