The CGT ?

I need clarification on Confédération Générale du Travail:

-- Is it true that they are a "stalinist controled union"?
-- What was their role in the Anti-CPE protests?
-- Some basic info would be usefull too.

-Elle était controlé par le Parti Communiste qui était staliniste des années 20 jusqu'au années 80. Le Parti Communiste était le plus grand parti en France en 1945, il est donc normal qu'il ait eu une énorme influence au sein de la principale confédération syndicale. Puis au fil des ans le PC a perdu de son poids et on peut dire désormais que depuis les années 80/90 la CGT n'est plus sous influence "staliniste" puisque de toute façon le PC lui même s'est "déstalinisé". Aujourd'hui on y trouve toutes sortes d'orientations. Social-démocrate, staliniste mais aussi trotskiste.

-En tant que plus grande confédération syndicale elle a joué un poids primordial avec ses appel à la grève dans le fait qu'il y eut 3 000 000 de personnes dans la rue pour manifester contre le CPE.

-Le congrès a lieu en ce moment. La direction d'influence réformiste s'est faite énormément contestée notamment à propos du fait qu'elle n'est pas appelé à la grève générale illimité durant la mobilisation contre le CPE, se contentant de quelques journées d'action hebdomadaires avec appel à la grève. Thibault, son secrétaire général, s'est aussi fait contesté à cause de son positionnement à propos de la Constitution Européenne l'an dernier. En effet il ne voulait pas que la CGT prenne position. Mais sous la pression de la base, la direction confédérale a été obligé de désavoué son secrétaire général et d'appele à voter "non".
Malgré cela la direction a été réélu mais avec beaucoup moins de voix qu'au dernier congrès.

-As a greater trade-union confederation it played a paramount weight with its call to the strike in the fact that there were 3 000 000 people in the street to protest against the CPE.

-The congress takes place in this moment. The direction of reformist influence was done enormously disputed in particular concerning the fact that it is not called with the general strike unlimited during the mobilization against the CPE, being satisfied with a few weekly days of action with call to the strike. Thibault, its secretary-general, also was done disputed because of its positioning in connection with the European Constitution last year. Indeed he did not want that the CGT gives an opinion. But under the pressure of the base, the confederal direction was obliged of repudiated its secretary-general and to invite to vote "no". In spite of that the direction was re-elected but with much less voice than with the last congress.
