Hi, my name is Jonathan Banks and I am studying institutional racism in an ivestigative manner for coursework. I have researched the more obvious elements (malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks et al). However i am looking for more underground material and examples. If anyone has anything that might be remotely useful to me i would be most grateful.

    Thanks

Assata Shakur, Mumia Abu-Jamal, COINTELPRO, Drug laws concerning Crack and Cocaine, Police Brutality, Racial Profiling (New Jersey is notorious for it), Diallo, Fred Hampton, thats all i can think of right now, but COINTELPRO and the Drug Laws would be the best two examples of Institutionalized Racism.
I believe in the type of freedom that doesn't proliferate international death, enslavement, and suffering. I believe in true freedom.

Ehorse, you should talk (PM) to the member Hampton whom is quite the expert when it comes to this subject.

To everyone else, do you have online documents that might be useful and other bits and pieces? Might be a good idea to put them forward.

    EDUCATION!

Please look at critical theory, bell hooks, Paulo Freire, Johnathon Kozol, and others.

Remember it is not just a race issue, it is a class and culture issue as well, the discrimination is an attempt to save the playing field for one's UPPer Class white male descendents, (females are tolerated but have their place) and everyone else can go to hell!

There was a video a while back which showed an upper class nuclear family in a glass box while the majority of people of all races colors and creeds stood outside watching thinking, "What the hell!"

Nowhere is the institutionalization of oppression for the next generation instituted more bluntly than in schools. If you go to a good school you must adopt the culture of the oppressor or be done away with, if you go to a bad school you are not properly educated, and do not have the tools to be of consequence.

The secret is to try and get good education which focuses on critical thinking skills, deductive reasoning, and a sense of purpose and belief in one's self and one's purpose in history, but this is missing.

We must build what true academies of learning that were to focus on the development of the individual as a part of their community would look like,a nd what would they foster.

The Global Right are using neo-liberalism to defund such schools where they do exist, and brow beat educators not only to teach white upper class values, but test them to these, and remove those who can not remember these facts.

There's some information on how Black people are being over zealously targeted by the British Police Force in these articles on "Islamaphobia"....

    What hate?

    And....

    the islamophobia myth

    From the second article....

One of the consequences of the exaggeration of anti-Muslim prejudice is to hide the real discrimination.
    Hope that helps.
