Technocracy is a design for an alternative form of civilization, where money, government and hierarchic control mechanisms of people are made obsolete through the introduction of energy accounting. Instead of building an economic system centered around wealth accumulation and non-sustainable consumption, a circulation system where production and consumption is completely balanced in order to create a dynamic equilibrum is established.

    http://www.technocracy.org/?p=/documents/b...26ad1c15aaaaaa8

The system was designed by a group of North American scientists and engineers named the Technical Alliance during the beginning of the 20th century.

In the years around 1930, the technocrats were ready to present their design to the world. The idea was to unite the US and Canada into one technate with responsibility of the infrastructure, as well as the replacement of urban sprawls with arcologies called urbanates in order to increase energy efficiency and thus the well-being of the citizenship.

The results of this would have been an enormous increase in living standards, a shortening of work-hours to the level which was physically allowed by automatization, as well as a continental-wide increase in safety, a reduction of crime and the establishment of a de-facto classless and cashless society.

    http://www.technocracy.ca/simp/begin.htm

NET, the Network of European Technocrats, are being established as we speak in order to bring forth the legacy of the Technical Alliance and conduct an energy survey in Europe and the northern hemisphere.

Within the NET, the concepts of technocracy are modernising, and we have gained valuable influences from the green movement, from libertarian socialism and from the holonic society.

Our ideal is the establishment of a new civilization, the European technate, a community based on ecological sustainability, technological automatization, anarchic freedom, empathy with all forms of life, and common usership rights of technology and infrastructure [instead of private property rights].

NET needs dedicated and visionary young people who are prepared to aid us in our research and in our cause for a better world. NET needs members from all across Europe, members who are prepared to organise study circles, write articles, work in the sequences and help people get aware of the existence and cause of NET.

If you want to become a member of NET, you should fill in an application with name, residence, e-mail, completed level of education and some additional personal information such as interests, hobbies and what you think you could help NET with.

All people, no matter where if they are living in Europe or not, are welcome to apply as members of NET, as long as they are not members or sympathizers of extremist organisations [national socialist, fascist or religious fundamentalist movements].

If you want to contact us to ask more questions, we kindly invites you to our discussion forum on

Hey Serpent, long time no see.

The Holonic society is a project where dr. Wallace, the director of the Sequence of Research [NET] is active. It's goal is to form micro-societies which are bartering with each-other, in order to field-test non-authoritarian communities as well as technocratic methodologies.

Wow, talk about re-inventing the wheel. The Legacy Project (a similar idea of mine and Zephir's) looks a bit simplified next to this. I'll certainly check it out. Guess I shoulda done my homework before starting a new group...

    Greetings, Serpent!

I got familiar with technocracy this winter from Haraldur, the anarchist technocrat, and find it very fascinating. I'd certainly like to learn more about it, and will look into your links.

I've seen the technocracy.ca forums but have yet to post there.

I have a thread on energy accounting in the Theory forum here on Revleft, and we had an interesting discussion in it.

Please refresh it, if you have some points!

And I have answered. So extremely typical that people assumes that value is created by labour rather than by energy processes. If that was the case, then reward me for my 30 km, 75 min training pass yesterday.

Hi, Enrique. As you can see, I have mentioned Technocracy from time to time.

Sentinal: You live in Sweden, right? Enrique (Serpent) lives in or around Umea, as do most NET members, it seems. Hehe...

Yes, I live in Stockholm, when I'm not at work, on a passenger ship going between Sweden and Åland (I work on a 10 days on 10 days off schedule.)

Are there any NET members in Stockholm? How many are there in Sweden, and what "kind of people" are they?

If you wonder why I'm asking that, it's because of something I've been thinking about asking you guys..

So, to hit the nail on the head, in which numbers are workers represented within the Technocratic movement?

I might of course be entirely wrong here, knowing embarassingly little of you. I have not yet had the time to look into Serpent's links since I'm at work at the moment.

I somehow get the impression the movement consists mostly of "intellectuals", but as I said, I'm assuming here..

I do not know. Enrique would be more likely to know. You could ask this at the NET forum.

Well, the more active ones definitely seem to be, in Europe at least. Of course, that could be misrepresentative since NET's current project is to the European Energy Survey (I think, I am not actually very active).

Around half of the NET members live in Sweden. Our chairman, Henrik Rydberg, lives both in Stockholm and Västerås, and we have a lot of sympathizers in the Stockholm region. We have a lack of manpower, which we must overcome, and we need to have active holons where we have members now. NET has moved so long, we have our own scientists, but we need more participants.

It would be really great if more members from Stockholm joined.

If you want to send an application of membership, you'll could send it to [email protected]

An alternative is to join the forums at http://spazz.mine.nu/forum3

One important aspect is that NET does not only need experts in physics and ecology, but members who are willing to share their knowledge and faith in a new world, members who are wiling to study technocracy, to ask questions and to help us with our website, our organisation and our presence in Europe and elsewhere.
