    The US is backing a call by the Iranian government to deny consultative status by the United Nations of organisations that work to achieve equal rights for homosexuals, bisexuals or transgenders. Consultative status is needed to take part in discussions amongst the UN, so this could be a huge blow to the gay-rights movement if this gains support from other UN members.

    This ranks up there with "We want democracy in Palestine....UNLESS ITS HAMAS OR SOMEONE WE DONT LIKE" as far as American hypocrisy goes.

    This is just another example of "selective democracy."

    Does anyone else remember that leftists were not allowed to take part in the formation of the new Iraqi government? Totalitarianism strikes again <_<

    its pretty funny/sick that this is an issue the US can agree with a traditional enemy on.
