To me, the hammer and sickle is not a symbol of comunism but of the soviet system. I prefer this design:

The Hammer Sickle has been used in every true proleteriat and national liberation movement. From the creation of the USSR to Vietnam to the overthrow of aparthiad in South Africa. The oppressed people have no problems with the hammer and sickle and neither do i.

    ditto.

Yours is very nice too, but the hammer and sickle represents historical class struggles. That's not something you just turn your back on.

it would be not a bad idea if we'd ALL change all the hammer and sickle thingies we ALL use, might take away some of the prejudice towards our beliefs...cuz face it, an opressive murderous regime used it as a symbol for almost a century.

then again, i can also get where the rest in this topic are coming from...

oh and not to be annoying but there's nothing wrong with the soviet system, which just means council system. Problem is stalin fucked it up.

Mmh yeah, but who can guarantee the next symbol will not be misused again? That way we can keep shifting symbols. Maybe it'd be better if we prove Stalin and his kind wrong. After all, it's all about the revolution, and not symbols, right?

I don't think that there is any problem with the symbol other than that it became (to me) in a way boring. Inventing another symbol and using it sometimes (but not completely removing the old symbol) is a good thing. I like the symbol of that group.

I have lived in the monster and I know its entrails; my sling is David's. -Jose Marti

...revolutionaries are anti-civilisation because we are opposed to what class society defines as 'civilized' and desireable; because class society and 'civilization' are two-sides of the same coin. Hierarchal organisation, parliaments, commerce, property rights, the police, law and order, fences, borders, religious institutions, these are the things that define 'civilization.' These are the institutions upon which 'civilized society' and class society are based; and all of these will be destroyed when capitalism, the state --- when bourgeois society is pulled down and trampled on by the exploited and oppressed in the struggle for liberation. - bleeding gums malatesta

    I like this:

    and this:
"We are now becoming a mass party all at once, changing abruptly to an open organisation, and it is inevitable that we shall be joined by many who are inconsistent (from the Marxist standpoint), perhaps we shall be joined even by some Christian elements, and even by some mystics. We have sound stomachs and we are rock-like Marxists. We shall digest those inconsistent elements. Freedom of thought and freedom of criticism within the Party will never make us forget about the freedom of organising people into those voluntary associations known as parties."

Deigo Armando, it would be great if those two could be combined into one. I love them both.
