Another bit of news from the BBC on women equality, this time the equality of bourgeois women....

Just 7% of City traders are female, according to recruitment firm Alexander Mann, which found that an "old boy network" may still exist in some areas.

Women are more likely to be found in sales than in trading and research, while the number of experienced female bankers was "limited", the firm said.

Equal opportunity campaigners warned that real equality may be decades away.

    In the minority

"Given the investment and increased focus on creating a more diverse workforce within the financial markets, these results will come as a disappointment," said Clare Harris, director of capital markets at Alexander Mann Financial Markets.

Alexander Mann surveyed more than 30 finance firms to find out the number of jobs held by women in three key areas.

According to the survey, women account for just 7% of traders in shares, commodities, foreign exchange and credit.

In sales and research, women were better represented, filling 17% and 16% of positions respectively.

Earlier this month the Equal Opportunities Commission said only a minority of women have achieved senior positions in both the public and private sectors.

It said true gender equality was "decades away".
    Source.

As gloomy as these figures are, I'd imagine a far higher proportion of women are in the ruling class than 20 or 30 years ago. Gradually I think we will see "sex equality" (meaning 50% of the ruling class are women and 50% men).

As for real equality, well we all know how to bring that about don't we?

Doubtful as the whole system is patriarchal and run by an old boys network that meets in private sporting clubs to conduct business, and sees women as wives and sexual trash to be traded like horses.

As long as the old system is so conjoined with the male patriarchy in form and thought, as outlined by Hegel with Father in position to be followed by the son, there is little hope for women in this system.

In order for women to enter the financial world systemic change in the nature of operations from the system of thought which focuses on male style thought patterns, games and systems of behavior to style of title and ownership would have to change.

A more balanced system would look at matriarchal societies and their system of ownership; which are very different and focus on preservation of the resource for the good of the community (see Pueblo people) would be observed.

The current system is not structured around preservation, but use. It focuses on a profit or constant increase in supply oriented market instead of a honoring and gratitude for what you have, and for the longevity of companies and community.

The current market system is ultimately self-destructive. The question is whether a more loving system of inclusion of all parties can come about before Revolution, which will destroy so much.

I'm hoping for gentle paradigm shift, but it requires non-violent revolution in the style of Martin Luther Kings March for the Poor. He became incensed about poverty and oppression shortly before his assination.

For women, as Lennon says, they control about 4-7% of the world's assets, and do about 60% of the work, as after the children are born they can't just run off, they have to make sure that child is fed.

Caring for children, and negative laws and honoring of female education world wide have a disasterous effect on them, their children, and the environment, as uneducated women are more likely to have a higher number of offspring.

My dream, that no woman should ever fear for shelter at night. That they have enough resources to eat and live. That should be the dignity of all beings women are usually the worst off.
