I´m from Germany. So my Englisch ist not very good.
I have to do a Work called "Facharbeit" for my Abitur. My theme ist: "Why is Che Guevara still populär today?"
I have some reason, but I need some more. Maybe you can tell me some. And it would be interesting for me, what people from pages like "www.revolutionaryleft.com"
think and why he is popular for them.

He embodies the revolutionary dream:

travelling free, overcoming adversities, both in the world and his own abilities, he spread hope throughout the latin american world, participated in many revolutions in key roles, and died for the cause at the hands of his hated enemies. The mystique surrounding his death until recently caused a lot of interest also, I think.

There are many reasons why he is popular. first of all, he lead a revolution that affected the world, cuz a country was turned socialist, he was also captured by the CIA and killed, that proved that america is truly is a capitalistic imperial nation and socialists raged against it.
moreover, he was made famous through the music industry, as he's an icon of rage against capitalism and rebellion in general.
he is also the only martyr of socialism.

Che was a simple of resistance against the old oppresive order that has been the scourge of the world since the beginning of the industrial age. He fought the fascist Batista, he fought the US backed goverment in Bolivia, he was a hero for the people.

CHE IN MY HEART


A romantic revolutionary heroism
A typical intrenational proletarian spirit
One of the most famous legend in our time.
That is Che Guevara.

I knew Che quite late. The first time I’ve heard about him was eight years ago on the occasion of 70th Anniversary of his birthday. Most of the Vietnamese press had the articles in memorial to Che. However, as a matter of fact, I only knew vaguely that Che is an Argentinian but fighting for Cuban Revolutionary. Even I always felt uncomfortable when some one told about him so much. To me, only Fidel was the greatest hero of Cuba.
And I have met Che. Coincidentally, I borrowed my friend the book titiled “ Fidel Castro and CIA’s assassinations”. My intention was to try to understand Fidel Castro more, but finally the most interests I found was on Che Guevara. His life and career really appealed me. I went to decide to read more on him. “Che – competence, character, love and immortality” was the first book I have read on Che fully. I was carried away with his revolutionary enthusiasm. I really adore him. His life was spreading in front of my eyes as gloriously as a corlourful painting. It will be too superfluous to go on saying about his qualities, which was done for thoudsand time before. In this article, I’d just like to mention an aspect of his nature: the international proletarian spirit.

I was really impressed by the way Che agreed to join Cuban Revolution. He accepted Fidel’s invitation without hesitation because one simple reason “that’s a sort of the jobs I love very much” as he told his parents in the letter. With fighting for the nation that was not his homeland, with bleeding for the people that were not his masses, Che is a great example for the proletarian internationalism. To Che, there was nothing different between Argentina and Cuba or between Congo and Bolivia. “Homeland” in Che’s mind is not only where he was born but where the proletariat is still dominated by the bourgeoise and the poor is still oppressed by the rich.
Each spilt drop of blood, in any country under whose flag one has not been born, is an experience passed on to those who survive, to be added later to the liberation struggle of his own country. And each nation liberated is a phase won in the battle for the liberation of one's own country. (Message to Tricontinental – Che Guevara)

Che is an everlasting revolutionary. It seems to be the destiny of Che. Che had become a revolutonary before he accepted to join The July 26th Movement of Fidel Castro. It was in his travels of Latin America in which he had learned a lot from the real lives. His radical ideal also began to be formed in this ininerary. Finally Che went to decide to dedicate his life to the communist cause. At the same time he determined that he would fight against the enemies to the bitter end uncompromisingly in all battles. As for Che, any concession is an unforgive action of a communist. All his life is an example for that spirit.
We must carry the war into every corner the enemy happens to carry it: to his home, to his centers of entertainment; a total war. It is necessary to prevent him from having a moment of peace, a quiet moment outside his barracks or even inside; we must attack him wherever he may be; make him feel like a cornered beast wherever he may move. Then his moral fiber shall begin to decline. He will even become more beastly, but we shall notice how the signs of decadence begin to appear. (Message to Tricontinental – Che Guevara)

Che’s determination in one day of July or August 1955 led him to one of the highest rank. From the President of the National Bank to the Minister of Industry, from the guerrilla to the diplomat, Che’s mind and heart was always directed toward the oppressed nations all over the world. The simple military uniform of Che among the sea of noble suits at the international meetings was to speak out the voices of the proletariat in the world.

It seemed that Che’s destiny was forcasted to be a hero. Che prefered living as a guerrilla to being an official (he had done very well in this position though). Che couldn’t resist the calls of the streets as it had happened to him at the time of his university. He left behind all glories and powers of a idol and leader in Cuba to throw himself in danger battles of Congo and Bolivia where he thought were really needing his capabilities than Cuba. With his determination Che made impact on me strongly. I do not only see the altruism but also the romatic beauty in his decision. In Che’s heart, there was no place for selfishness, even for the sake of his own nation. Your friends shed tears for his murder in Bolivian jungle but I didn’t. I knew Che would never want anybody to cry for him. All he would be eager to see are:
Wherever death may surprise us, let it be welcome, provided that this, our battle cry, may have reached some receptive ear and another hand may be extended to wield our weapons and other men be ready to intone the funeral dirge with the staccato singing of the machine-guns and new battle cries of war and victory. (Message to Tricontinental – Che Guevara)

Many claims that Che’s murder made him become a legend. 39 years old is too young for a figure like Che, but whole world reamains commemorating him with the radiant face, attractive mouth and solemn eyes. Human being will be never older after the death. Even if a hundred years pass, Che Guevara in people’s mind will still the 39 aged hero.

Che left us as peacefully as he came in this world. His death inspired a lot of revolutionary movements in globe. We seem to feel the satisfactory smile on his lips:

It has been possibly said that Che’s actions were too radical, that his ideals were too utopian, but Che’s spirit will be undying. Che – a man become immortal due to the very people who never want him to live. To Huu, the famous Vietnames poet wrote about heroes:
There are the moments which make history
There are the deaths which make immortality
Che is absolutely worthy to this honour.
Every time I look at Che’s eyes, they seem to say me that “Do live and fight for a better world!”. I know that in the difficult periods of my life, I will always find the couragements from Che “Do fight as a genuine communist!”.
Yes, I will fight and never give up.

che was the embodiement of the perfect revolution.he fought and died for what he believed in.it is interesting that he is so popular in america when he was fighting against the american supported batistan government.

it makes me sick today when you see someone in the street wearing a che shirt and you ask him who he was and all he can tell you was he was a revolutionary. che said it best i think with "shoot coward, you are only killing a man."

Che dreamed of creating an opposing force to the deadly threat of the American Imperialism. His dream was that of uniting the whole of Latin America, like many others who have tried this before, including the Independence leader. He remains famous for the fact that he was killed by the United States, the oppressive behaviour of American governments had to be challenged and most of all it had to be stopped from infiltrating into Latin America, when Che was alive it wasn't so hard to achieve this, he still had the chance of succeeding, in fact if he was alive he would probably be the presindet of both Argentina and Bolivia at the same time!! but his death marked the end of the physical struggle against the United States, it shows that the oppresion triumphed and it automatically transformed him into a martyr, not just any marty, The Martyr of the poor, the oppressed, the exploited, the violated......the list goes on and on, anyway, his death also represents the beginning of a new hope for Latin America, he inspired men like Hugo Chavez who is today living proof of that hope, the hope of justice, union, equality and anti-oppression.............Che may be dead, but he's by no means gone, he remains alive.
