Before I start, I must say this:
DISCLAIMER: What some may see here may offend them: to the rest, you'll just find it amusing. But, I take a bit of a satirical look on "womyn", so this is just a note to any all-powerful admins: I am not a sexist, I just find spelling words wrongly is foolish, and not revolutionary in any way.

This forum is a somewhat new addition to the RevLeft staple. I thought, "Hmm, this might get bogged down pretty quickly", but I decided to look for the hell of it. As expected, it's already swamped with threads like "OMFG, teh pr0n exploits women1!!1lol (ignoring the fact that women get paid more in the porn industry than men, making it one of the only places where such an event occurs) and "LOL Why womyn who love womyn hate womyn. OMFG I'm so radical1111!"

This kind of thing annoys me, as those who read my blog will know. The spelling of "womyn" really infuriates me. Not because I'm "a b1g b4d Leninists Patriarch1!111", but it just detracts from the credibilty of genuine feminists who fight for women's equal rights. Yes, you crazy "fymynysts", it's spelt, WOMEN. But on to the real feminists: these are the people who actually go out and take part in women's struggle at the workplace, as well as helping to influence it at home. They also recognise that they should fight "for the equality" of women, not to put them above men. I have the utmost respect for these people.

But what really irritates me, is the pseudo-political, poseurs and paupers who use the spelling of "womyn" to pervey that they are indeed, "revolutionary". How? May I ask the fymynysts in the forum, how does mis-spelling a word make your claim for equality any better? How does spelling a word wrong make you "revolutionary"? Surely, if one uses the "womyn" spelling, they aim to put themselves ABOVE men, instead of seeking equality?
Indeed, if I may quote a situation from Maddox (who admittedly isn't the BEST model for equal rights, but I'll go on),
"Guy: OK, if you could just turn here that would be great
Womyn: OMFG STFU patriarch!!!111Stop being controlling111"
Or, as those who've read my blog know, like this:
"Fymynyst: Hey you, skirt-wearer, what have YOU done for the womyn's cause?
Proletarian Feminist: Me? Well, I've helped my fellow women in the workplace gain equal pay on par with men, and help immigrants from other countries do the same, regardless of gender. Might I ask what YOU'VE done for the feminist movement?
Fymynst: Well, erm, I changed the spelling of "women" to "womyn" in several books! I r0x0r u mofo"

Please, I urge everyone of the so-called "fymynysts" PLEASE, do something constructive for the women of the world, don't be fucking posseurs who just use it as an excuse to wear leather. Cease this foolish activity for your own benefit, otherwise, the working class might not look upon the feminist movement with much respect.

Well, I think the battle between Women and Wymin is basically all this forum amounts to. Unless we use the term discrimination properly and include all issues of Class. meh.

I'll stop being bitter, but I can't see this topic achieving anything progressive.
"How you cling to your purity, young man! How afraid you are to soil your hands! All right, stay pure! What good will it do? Why did you join us? Purity is an idea for a yogi or a monk. You intellectuals and Bourgeois anarchists use it as a pretext for doing nothing. To do nothing, to remain motionless, arms at your sides, wearing kids gloves. Well, I have dirty hands. Right up to the elbows. I've plunged them in the filth and blood. But what do you hope? Do you think you'll govern innocently?"

Socialistpenguin, I am quite bothered by the hostile and aggressive nature of your post. In fact I am giving you a warning point for it.

This forum is for in-depth discussion on issues of discrimination, not for petty name-calling and juvenile meltdowns.

As expected, it's already swamped with threads like "OMFG, teh pr0n exploits women1!!1lol (ignoring the fact that women get paid more in the porn industry than men, making it one of the only places where such an event occurs)
If you disagree with any opinion posted in that thread, reply in that thread.

"LOL Why womyn who love womyn hate womyn. OMFG I'm so radical1111!"
    See above.

This kind of thing annoys me, as those who read my blog will know. The spelling of "womyn" really infuriates me.
If you are truly bothered that much by the "misepelling" of a word, I would suggest that your problems are deeper than you realize.

No one is contending that an alternate spelling of "women" is in and of itself revolutionary, rather that it brings attetion to issues of female liberation.

I don't know whether it works or not, but I have no problem with the attempt.

If it bothers you as a political statement, just think of it as a dialectic issue. Most people on this board spell "colour" without the "u", that doesn't anger you does it?

Take it from a linguistics major, there is no "wrong" way to speak.

Please, I urge everyone of the so-called "fymynysts" PLEASE, do something constructive for the women of the world
    Most of them do.

One's spelling does not detract from one's ability to engage in political activity.

    This thread seves no purpose.

    Thread closed.
I'd love to change the world, but I don't know what to do, so I leave it up to you...
