I have written a little community FAQ, just click on "FAQ" in the top navigation bar.
"The proletariat, when it seizes power [...] should and must at once undertake socialist measures in the most energetic, unyielding and unhesitant fashion, in other words, exercise a dictatorship, but a dictatorship of the CLASS, not of a party or of a clique -- dictatorship of the class, that means in the broadest possible form on the basis of the most active, unlimited participation of the mass of the people, of unlimited democracy." - Rosa Luxemburg

Hey, that just gave me an idea for che-lives.com. How about a FAQ on Che himself in the page. That would be a good idea for people to learn more about what Che was about and to dust away stereotypes and misconceptions about him.

Awesome idea. And, it also prevents us community members from having to answer idiotic questions repeatedly.

    Good one Brujo! High five!

Yes, that's a good idea! I think I'll compile one soon.

In the spirit of the great revolutionaries, let us bear in mind, the fundamental objective of every successful revolution has been fighting for the upliftment of our fellow human beings. As Che said -:

" if you tremble with indignation at every injustice, then you are a comrade of mine. "

On the subject of the Commie Club, the FAQ says anyone with 50+ posts can enter, but I'm still locked out. Do you have to ask to be added?

    Sorry for the newbie question

    Hi Malte!

I have a question about this Message Board, did you install it? Because I need some help, I'm doing a message board for my site and I just downloaded the Ikonboard thing, but it says that I should have this file called 'non-cgi' to know which files I have to upload to the each 'avatars', images', etc., folders, but I don't have that file!

Could you help me out on that? Maybe you could handle me the file or something, if you have time, of course. Sorry to bother. Thanks!

    Tete:

That folder is part of the IKB package, if it is not working properly on your webserver, just expand the packages on your hard drive and upload the directories individually.

Yeah. He just supported the idea of making workers die for a war that they had absolutely no interest in; just when real socialists and anarchists were taking the exact opposite stance. No biggie.
I'm curious; what would a different position on his part as an individual have accomplished? Resurrection of dead workers? Prevention of all future deaths? The Allied victory in WWI probably minimized the number of deaths that were to occur, considering the nature of the governments of the Central Powers. It was the best of a bad situation.

But yes, this thread is about Chomsky, and Chomsky's analysis of the USSR, not Kropotkin. And while I'm not aware of any in-depth analysis from Chomsky on the topic, the brief summary and reference to Brinton seems spot-on, if some of the vocabulary used is inaccurate. The Soviet Union did represent a superior alternative to the capitalist socioeconomic paradigm in many ways, but the needless authoritarianism that existed undermined the credibility of socialism, as Kropotkin predicted it would, to come full circle.
