The Marxist-Leninist Party of Canada is preparing for its participation in the upcoming federal election. Candidates are completing the process of collecting signatures for their nominations while Marxist-Leninist Party clubs and organizations have also been holding discussions on the significance of the Gomery Inquiry, the deepening crisis facing the system of party government and the need for democratic renewal.

This website provides the MLPC's contact information and will provide its views on various issues, as well as news, views and discussion from different sources to keep visitors informed and assist them in working out views that favour the polity at this time. We encourage everyone to participate in the discussion.

I hope you all do well, but I don't understand why a party calling itself Marxist-Leninist is running in elections. Didn't Lenin say in "State and Revolution" that revolution, not electoral reform, is the only way to get to socialism?

Not that you'd be bias or anything...and the CPC takes part in elections too, so this is a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Obviously the CPC, nor CPC-ML never plan to get elected anytime soon! They're both revolutionary parties.

Elections are only a small part of what revolutionary parties do, but for good reason.

It's a means of propoganda, it's a good way to get mainstream publicity. I'm a member of the Young Communist League and I've noticed that we get a lot more interest and applications coming in during the elections!

When communists go to all-candidates meetings, the push debate further left. These bourgeois party candidates are not criticized NEARLY enough otherwise.

And it shows that there's an alternative, the NDP/bloc aren't the only left parties!

Doesn't running a candidate just reinforce the myth that voting can actually change anything?

I mean, I see the need for publicity, but why reinforce the myth?

Well it's no surprise that bourgeois elections will never make the change we want it to.

But it's still important to show your support, let winning party know we exist and we're not going away! We need to put up a fight!

Besides, if I had to choose from one of the four big business parties, I would think even more that voting won't change anything!

If the working class really wants favourable change,
Don't vote for the big business parties!

Here is the Communist Party of Canada's release on the election:

It explains why they're running very well
