The Working Class

I read that in a communism society the working class would be the ruling class. what about in a socialist society? what kind of class would they be in?

In a communist society, there will be no classes but in socialism the proletariat would be the ruling class. You might want to check out The State and the Revolution, avalible for free at Marx.org, written by Lenin giving the Marxist standpoint on this issue if you want more information.

I wish to point out that the proletariat alone does not have to rule for socialism to be established, in Russia the proletariat and the peasantry ruled in alliance, as expressed by the hammer and the sickle.

As the theory goes, communism is classless. The antagonism between the exploiters and the exploited is no longer present, therefore there is no need for one class to rule over another. It is in a socialist society that the working class is the ruling class.

oh. my bad. i must have misread it. i was reading in redstars definition on socialism http://www.redstar2000papers.com/theory.ph...rt_from=&ucat=& and i saw this and associated it to communism

The "communist" regimes of the 20th century actually never claimed to be anything but "socialist". Their argument was that "socialism" was "necessary" as a "transitional stage" to communism.

They further claimed that the working class "was" the ruling class in their countries...even though it was self-evident that ordinary workers had little or no input into any important decisions but were rather expected to obey their leaders.

interesting. my personal beliefs tell me that those who work hard should lead. not those that simply know how to lead
